Lenny Bruce
Lenny Bruce (October 13, 1925 – August 3, 1966), born Leonard Alfred Schneider, was an American stand-up comedian, writer, social critic and satirist of the 1950s and 1960s. His 1964 conviction in an obscenity trial led to the first posthumouspardon in New York history.
Extremely tired but watched a small part of the documentary on him..... I can't believe Mae West got arrested for her play Sex on Broadway but Lenny's wrongful conviction crushed him...
Suzannah's Muse for her documentary remains in hosptial
Suzannah B. Troy visits the 6th Precinct official business but stops to photograph "Wall of Honor"
Speaking of heartbreak, I noted a visual reminder of violence towards women of the worst kind. Greenwich Village Block Association News has it's paper in the 6th Precinct and there was a piece on the Adrienne Shelly Memorial Garden Dedication -- Abingdon Square.
So many women, me included know what it is like to be on the receiving end of violence starting with verbal harassment. The stats are too high world wide and NYC re: the worst case scenario -- the ultimate silence. I believe Adrienne Shelly simply asked for some peace and quiet and when she threatened to call the police she was murdered. She did not know her attacker. Tina Negron did.
Rest in peace....

6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.THERAPY
348 W. 52nd St.
(between 8th and 9th Aves.)
New York, NY 10019Join the HRC New York Steering Committee and NYC Council Speaker Quinn to have a discussion on current LGBT issues in New York City.
Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn
In January 2006, Council Members overwhelmingly chose Christine C. Quinn as Council Speaker. As the first woman, openly gay and Irish Speaker, she brings a new perspective to the diverse challenges facing each of New York's distinct communities. She has established herself as a champion for working families, fighting for policies and services that are critical to the lives of real New Yorkers. She has worked to make the Council more responsive to the needs of all New Yorkers, and dramatically increased transparency and accountability. Quinn has developed a reputation for finding innovative solutions, and furthering policies that are both creative and fiscally responsible. In the past three years, Speaker Quinn has taken on a wide range of issues, including equality and civil rights, housing, education, seniors, environment, small business, health, food and nutrition. Since 1999, Quinn has served as the representative for the 3rd Council District of Manhattan. She and her partner, Kim Catullo, live in Chelsea.
P.S. The fight in Maine continues and HRC has had a field organizer on the ground since January, with other significant HRC staff and financial support since then, and we continue to work hard to raise much needed funds. HRC has created theHRC Maine Marriage PAC . Our side is often outspent, and we need everyone's help to close the gap on fundraising. Even if it is $5, $10, $100, or even up to $1,000 it all makes a difference. Donate to the HRC Maine Marriage PAC today! There is a NYC fundraiser for Maine on Thursday, October 1 in Manhattan that begins at 6:30 p.m. For details, e-mail Regional Field Organizer Anthony Hayes at Anthony.Hayes@HRC.org.

"Banned from YouTubeland" Clayton Patterson Suzannah B. Troy

Banned from YouTubeland and how I got my work returned with an apology from Google
Imagine one day you open up the door to the studio were all the paintings you have ever worked on are stored and they’re gone. There’s nothing but empty walls and a note from the landlord saying “I’ve closed you out.”
I don’t have to imagine.
YouTube did it to me. One minute my collection of 334 videos, the product of years of activism and art, were available for any and all to see, to agree with or disagree with or to ignore.
But then, without any warning, without even the courtesy of an email, swoosh-they’re gone.
Here’s what happened. Blogger Queen’s Crap had posted a video of mine about David Yassky’s antics (that’s another story) and the hits just took off. So I went to check the stats on my iPhone and-poof-nothing except a little corporate non-speak saying-without any explanation-that I had violated their terms and my account was suspended. Actually every blank space where I had a video had the same non-speak. I felt ill, shocked and like I had been violated.
Then the questions started to come: Which terms had I violated? How had I violated them? Only YouTube knew and it wasn’t telling. Google, YouTube’s parent, has a motto: don’t be evil. That doesn’t sound too hard. (Though from what I read Goggle doesn’t have any scruples about helping the Chinese with censorship regarding filtering out articles with words like "Democracy" and "Tiananmen Square" (I made an error Yahoo helped track down Internet activists) and if that is not evil, it’s evil’s first cousin.) http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_TEC_GOOGLE_CHINA?SITE=1010WINS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
http://www.quikmaneuvers.com/files/Oct_07_Cultural_War_-_Internet_Cos_Help_Chinese_Repress.pdf
How about a new motto: just be fair. Why can’t YouTube have given me a little notice, an explanation and a chance to respond? That’s all.
Sure, they don’t have to treat me like that; I checked with Norman Siegel, famed civil rights attorney and friend, and he said because YouTube is private they don’t owe me free speech. Norman Siegel also pointed out to me that YouTube gives people a soapbox via the Internet to speak up. He contacted YouTube, actually Google's legal department immediately and fired off a letter.
Speaking of free speech, did I mention most of my videos are about the insanely corrupt politics that are sinking New York, my home city, under a tsunami of debt. as well as a tsunami of community crushing development ala the Bloomberg administration? My very first YouTube went after King Mike Bloomberg, who doesn't break the law, the little emperor of NYC just changes them.
Did my getting shut down have anything to do with my message? Who knows? Only YouTube knows and they aren’t saying.
Clayton Patterson pointed out that YouTube removed my work from every website and blog that had posted my work as well , with no notice. People were very upset. I asked people to write letters to YouTube on my behalf express their outrage which they did and I am grateful.
Clayton also compared what happened to me to people with Amazon and Kindle resulting in lawsuits because again with no notice books were removed.
There is a happy ending-sort of. After Norman helped me contact both YouTube’s and Google’s legal departments, someone must have looked into what happened and started thinking about what this kind of arbitrary behavior might mean to YouTube’s reputation.
So I get a letter of apology from some YouTube gentleman with a complete non-explanation of why they suspended my account; a “technical error.”
I think YouTube’s error was they tried to silence an experienced activist who happens to have Norman Siegel and plenty of others in her corner. And so they blinked-this time.
YouTube and Google: it’s time to live up to a higher standard; if you’re going to give me a soapbox great, but don’t kick it out from under me without warning and without a reason.
And when you do act badly how about a real explanation instead of this “technical error” crap? I don’t think some geek in a server farm stumbled and hit the delete key on my site. What really happened?
Thanks to everyone who wrote YouTube on my behalf and to Norman Siegel who responded quickly and contacted Google's legal dept. on my behalf. Also thank you Louis Flores, Raul Barcelona -- The Promise of New York, Clayton Patterson, Queens Crap, Bloomberg Watch Tom fighting Columbia University abuse of eminent domain , Alan, Al, RAFAEL MARTINEZ-ALEQUIN,Yetta, Jason, Mary, http://truenewsfromchangenyc.blogspot.com/2009/02/new-yorkers-lost-their-anger-sole-and.html, http://devilwearsmarshalls.blogspot.com/...thank you everyone who spoke up for me and helped with to get my hard work returned to me.
Note: My work was banned for 28 hours before the mayoral election that was too close to call.

Eddie B. Alicea and Suzannah B. Troy meet at film class - we both want to make documentaries!
Eddie is a Viet Nam Vet, who through twists and turns ended up in a homeless shelter in San Francisco's tenderloin district. He describes "tenderloin district" as old 8th Avenue and 48th Street where all the wild and woolly "////" happened. We met in a free class at Apple and we both have the same goal and common consciousness -- to make documentaries, mine with a political focus that focuses on the people of NYC and Eddie's with the affects of the political peoples decisions that create institutional injustices.
I have two YouTubes I am working on -- one about being banned and I just filmed this photographer John Conn
As soon as I get up the two YouTubes that are political and one is about being banned, the other is live from City Hall with a special guest who knows a lot about being banned! I will bring you the YouTube I filmed interviewing John Conn, photographers. He has photo of Flop Houses from the Bowery, 1970's which are black and white as if the photos themselves almost stanch the stark loneliness. He has many street and subway shots from the 1980's. I bought this tight squeeze in the subway shot. John travels all over the world and photographs people and also life underwater as well. I think he is a Marine. I will show his photos and YouTube next week!

So excited!!!!!!! I have found my new muse!
Mike Bloomberg book review, the review sounds like me!
Am I being harassed by The Villager in directly again?
If I wasn't being harassed on Azi's blog I wouldn't be bring this up again.
That good news is it further exposes and underscores my point.
They are not rocket scientists either because the NYPD did follow up and if I sue the Coop that means I sue the good people that did stand up for me and gee, there were some good folks that did. Not a rock scientist goes on to celebrate me getting my just desserts being banned from YouTube but gee, this "good citizen" did not have the capacity to understand right from wrong and was in blame the victim mode because YOUTUBE/GOOGLE APOLOGIZED TO ME.
Note: There is a lot I could say about where I lived but I won't at this time. The one thing I can say without harming good people is that there was a parking lot in the back and rather than it be cooperative--a small select group had parking based on seniority of list. When St. Ann's was being torn down by NYU, NYU paid these individuals a generous sum to park their cars else where. I won't comment on this or anything else regarding my ex-home of 20 years where there has been a mass exodus as well. I contributed big time helping my neighbors and even got street signs that say no honking -- 2 and more.
I do not go anywhere near my ex-home of 20 years and that speaks volumes.
When you can read from anonymous cyber stalkers that I believe are associated with The Villager is they want to dump on me.
In case any of this become a legal matter, I have nothing else to say in response to these commentors except to say the laws have changed and nothing is anonymous any more.
I don't want to talk about any of this and that includes the emails coming from The Villager and friends and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why I am not going to respond anymore.
Thanks for reminding me -- I changed the title-- I had left out The Villager.... It nows says NYU rep and The Villager deny....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x1Ig-yhN1k
I broke the news that NYU and The Villager turned away the press including NY1 and senior citizens patiently standing on line who gee whiz, happen not to be supporters of Christine Quinn.
Note: I don't take harassment lightly and I do contact the NYPD on harassment whether is it physical or on the internet. I did contact the NYPD and mailed copies of the email and it involves Lincoln Anderson. I do not want any contact with him and I made that clear.

YouTube actually "Google" writes me an apology-- just now I got an explanation
Dear Ms. Troy,
I received your emails about the suspension of your YouTube account. I am writing now to let you know that we looked into the suspension and discovered that a technical glitch caused us to falsely identify your account as spam. Your account has been restored. Please accept our apologies.
From your emails, it sounded like you are also having some negative experiences with other YouTube users. If you haven't done so already, please check out our Safety Center, and follow the Harassment and Cyberbullying link. You can use our Help and Safety Tool to manage communications and comments from other users. If you can't resolve these difficulties on your own, contact us, and we can help.
We value you as a member of the community, so please let us know if you have more questions or concerns.
regards,
Scott /////
Dear Scott: Based on the horrifying forms of harassment including one member I believe that took on many different identities, changed ages and genders, including taking my own, Suzannahartistcensors and Bloombergforlife it is hard for me to believe that being reported as spam would remove my entire account and ban me without any notice.
I am pleased that my account says I am in good standing. I have done so much good for my community and been acknowledge for helping Giuseppie Logan, homeless and thought dead, very much like "The Soloist". I felt every YouTube is a short film and so many people were outraged. They have my YouTubes posted on blogs and websites around the world. One film maker I interviewed told me he felt Youtube reached in to a website on him where a YouTube interview of mine was posted and just took the YouTube away with out any notice or explanation.
I am in shock.
Just stunned so it is hard for me to believe that this was because of spam but thank you for your response.
Suzannah B. Troy
Suzannah B. Troy back on YouTube! Thank you and says you made the difference and thanks Norman Siegel also!!!!
I have 91,366 hits on my YouTubes in less than a year and I had over 170 subscribers but now only 2 but I am back.
There was no explanation when the entire body of my work was pulled and none when my work was just returned now.
Again, thanks to Civil Rights lawyer Norman Siegel and everyone that wrote passionate letters on behalf of me and posted this travesty on their blogs and websites.
It says Your account is in good standing. FYI my account is in good standing! What a shock...this has been shocking. I am writing a piece on this and hope to post tonight.
YouTube has done this before Google Censorship
YouTube took me down I did not do anything wrong and this is a serious, Clayton Patterson points out the bigger picture - censorship with no notice
Filmmaker Raul Barcelona, The Promise of New York writes YouTube, greater supporter of Suzannah B. Troy
However, I am gravely concerned that the following YouTube account, belonging to a citizen journalist and artist, Suzannah B. Troy, has been suspended by YouTube for inexplicable reasons:
I am familiar with, and have again read just recently, your terms of use and do not see anything in there that would warrant a suspension of this account.
Your vague rationale for this suspension leads one to consider the possibility that powerful and rich political candidates in the current New York mayoral race, disatisfied with the content of Ms. Troy's videos, might be behind this decision.
It would be a shame if it were so and, as I have always been such a champion of YouTube and its role in enabling people to exercise their right to free speech, I hope it isn't.
Why was Ms. Troy's account suspended? She has posted a few hundred videos (vlogs) focusing on various topics, most importantly on the upcoming (and controversial) city elections here in New York City. Can YouTube.com please explain how it makes the distinction between featuring and highlighting the Iranian citizen journalist videos, meanwhile, supressing Ms. Troy's citizen journalist videos?
I ask that you reconsider your decision and that you promptly reinstate Ms. Troy's account so she can continue to share her valuable insights and opinions to the ongoing discourse about the current election with other New York City voters.
Sincerely,

I am sure the Misogynist Club has a rational for his aggressive handling
Suzannah B. Troy had over 80,000 views on her YouTubes and how they are all, over 300 YouTubes suspended
WEEKS BEFORE NYC MAYORAL ELECTION, YOUTUBE.COM SUPPRESSES FREE SPEECH
Suzannah B. Troy, a New York City-based artist, citizen journalist,
and
blogger, has had her YouTube.com inexplicably suspended by the
popular video
website.
http://www.youtube.com/user/Suzannahartist
Ms.
Troy has spent months creating, editing, and posting hundreds of =0 D
original citizen journalist videos focusing on the controversial
election
this year of local candidates running for third terms in office. In
particular, Ms.
Troy's videos have been highly critical of the New York City Council
and
Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The
nature of the videos on her YouTube.com account have ranged from
breaking
news-quality videos of voter demonstrations, to video blogs of her
commentary on the elections, to artistic interpretation of news
events.
There is no reason for her account to be suspended by YouTube other
than for
the political and artistic nature of their content.
We are only weeks away
from an important election, which shall decide if City Council
Members and
Mayor Bloomberg will thwart the will of voters' two referendum on term
limits. And missing from the free exchange of ideas during the
critical
debates that will be taking place in the time leading up to the
election
will be Ms.
Troy's
body of work.
Without you stepping in
to blog, publish, or report about this questionable suspension of Ms.
Troy's
YouTube account (as well as the potential of loss of hundreds of
videos),
other citizen journalists may face the same sad fate : cyber
suppression.
Please consider the
importance of voter participation in free and open democratic
elections.
