email to the mayor about Stuy Town/Cooper and our safety concerns beyond
The city Buildings Dept. and the FDNY have ordered Stuy Town/Peter Cooper Village to stop installing pressurized walls to convert living rooms into extra bedrooms.
I have "heard" that NYU was doing this to cram more students in to Stuy Town -- Peter Cooper Village and even their graduates manage to stay on so the both Stuy Town and Cooper which were meant to be affordable housing are part of NYU's unethical expansion that continues to cause potential harm of all kind to the community were ever NYU's focuses in greedy destructive unending need for never ending expansion as evictions continue to rise.
My question is what about all the extra walls already installed. Is the city going to let them remain. My belief is yes because of NYU's powerful connections and deep, deep pockets.
To date I believe the safety of the community and that includes environmental concerns have never been examined as they should have been when the USPS did not notify the State of New York as they were obligated to do so but just like the "walls" at Stuy Town -- Cooper, NYU's need to cram college kids in to our community is more important than the community's needs and the safety of the people of New York.
I posted this on my blog and emailed to the newspapers. Suzannah B. Troy artist.
Also please not (my typo- "know") I contacted you, Doctoroff and many others about infrastructure concerns and that was before the horrific break by Grand Central and I spoke at the City Council Task Force meeting Dec 1006 about too many construction workers being killed and again concerns for the safety of our community being crushed by way too rapid development.
