Thanks
Anyone reading my blog has figured out I am greatly agitated today and it has to do with my neighborhood, the community crushing development, the NYU mega death, if feels like NYU destroyed --murdered the East Village and so many developers jumped on NYU's supersizing bandwagon.
I am in process of moving and it is emotional. It is like a divorce and it is for the best...the best thing that could have happened to me but still it is a death...an end. I invested so much energy in to my neighborhood. One guy that worked in my building for more than the 20 years that I lived there said I helped many of my neighbors and even their pets. Many of my neighbors are gone and I can only say I wish I left sooner. Even if it is good to leave it was just so many years, the most years I have ever lived in one place in my life.
In a news report from Iraq I saw 3 sisters that watched their parents murdered in front of them and they are in an orphanage and the oldest sister was moved to yet another orphanage for older girls. Beyond heartbreaking....
For me I am exhausted but I do think of someone who is going the extra .2 for me...a marathon is 26.2 and I just feel like I can't make it so she is running the last leg for me so thanks "S" for your Olympic endeavor.
I find myself very upset tonight but I know I have so much to be grateful for, so much to look forward to and many wonderful good people have stepped up and supported me. Just thankful...

hey - beef with the NYU administration is fair, turning to the student body as ignorant or malicious is unfair. There are plenty of folks upset with our school.

Read what I wrote Duncan....I did say ignorant but blissfully ignorant and the malice has been NYU's actions directed at us the community for more way too long that so many have been pushed out of the neighborhood -- the turn out of NYU students on behalf of the community a very small percentage so I believe I have been accurate and I am entitled to my opinion. I have had to endure way too much thanks to NYU and I know I am one of many.
Thanks for posting your thoughts-- thanks for the support.
ps I just had another horrific day in the East Village that in part that has to due with NYU's mega destruction of St. Ann's so please excuse the typos and look closer to home or rather the mega dorm next door when you use the word malice... interview the people that prayed at St. Ann's or homeless people that slept on the steps of St. Ann's -- they would support my feelings because Duncan they share it.
Organize an NYU rally with even 10 percent of your student body showing up for our community....
I look forward to seeing it === we can't even get NYU to give us a community outreach resource center.
I could have used some NYU student's help today closing out my home of 20 years next to St. Ann's.
Thanks again Duncan
ps Duncan, I went to a meeting that was suppose to be with NYU students and they did not show up.
I have been interviewed by many NYU students who were moved by what I had to say at community board meetings until I stopped going to community board meetings because there was no point in going to them and Duncan why do you think that is?
As NYU students and Columbia U. students and from other colleges how many of them I have made the time to be interviewed by them, answered their questions. These students told me their feelings and they were supportive. Some NYU students even agreed to meet with me and walk with me.
Students that came here to NYC from all over the world including South America, Germany, Japan. Ask the student from Columbia U about her interview with me or better yet I hope you get to read it.
Thanks Duncan but I am aware there are students that support the community because they told me so directly but it is way too small a percentage.
Our own mayor won't help us. He and our mega millionaire city planner care more about NYU student housing than the continued evictions.
Thanks Duncan and please post any info that makes people aware and unites them to help our community.
