Kid's Magic Garden needs volunteers, help, and a lawyer that fights eviction like a magician!
Dear Friends of the Children's Magical Garden,
Now that Mother Nature has given us her official spring welcome with robins and daffodils, this Saturday is our opening to the growing season!
We will be planting seeds for our pizza patch, so that local kids can have the experience of growing food from seed to table. We will tend to our delicious pizza veggies all season, and in the fall we will have our 2nd annual pizza garden party where we will harvest the veg and make pizza's on grills in the garden!
We will also be planting spring flowers, as well as playing with dirt--- readying beds, and distributing last season's compost.
At 3 PM there will be a composting demonstration. Learn how to compost your kitchen scraps!
Bring kids, friends, family, gardening gloves if you have them, shovels if you have them, seeds (preferably organic) for veggies you think would taste good on pizza, empty egg cartons for some seeds, or just your beautiful selves!
Particularly needed:
photographers and/or videographers. We need to document all of our events to boost our efforts to make the garden permanent.
Help me put up fliers before the event! This is the way most of the local kids who don't have email find out...
When: Sat. April 12th from 2-5
Where: Children's Magical Garden de Carmen Rubio, between Norfolk and Essex on Stanton St., Lower East Side. F train to Delancey St., walk 2 blocks north.
In case of rain: If it is gloomy and overcast, we will still have the event. We will cancel, and try again on Sunday, April 13th, if it is pouring with rain at 1 PM... so think sun for Sat. afternoon!
