The New York Post 'Miracle Man' Marine dies

Sgt. Merlin German, 22 past away and he touched many people's
lives having bravely endured 100 operations from injuries serving in Iraq. My brain and heart are too tired but you can read the article and see the photo of Sgt. German with Joe Torre. He loved kids and Merlin's Miracles will be his foundation to continue touching peoples lives in the most optimistic way which was one of Merlin German's many gifts including his bravery.
I am very sad this morning and I think of being "burned" but it is nothing compared to suffering and enduring the burns Sgt. German endured. I remember Mike Daly talking about Capt. Pat Brown visiting Capt. Drennan when he was badly burned but unlike Sgt. German he never was to leave the hospital where Pat visited him. I remember all the flowers (I added flowers to the many placed there) outside the firehouse for Capt. Drennan and the the young men that took the express to Heaven and that was before 9-11. This is the fire house on 6th Avenue just below Houston and it is the firehouse that also lost Firemen Bobby Beddia and Joseph Graffagino and it was years after the fact but also 9-11. They are 9-11 heroes as well that should be included in the memorial.
To think of how Capt. Pat Brown visited Capt. Drennan as Mike Daly told us all as we sat in St. Patricks Cathederal and to know how bravely he died downtown only to be erased all these years along with so many other forming the largest loss of rescue workers in our city and Nation's history. Honoring this historical loss would not take away from the loss of anyone else's bravery that day and there were so many brave and loving souls acting selflessly but it is time to honor the largest loss of rescue workers at the WTC always and it should have been so all these years. Mayor, time to honor them with their rank.
I continue to ask the Mayor to give the fire, police and ems the simple respect due which is their rank at the 9-11 memorial.
Also NYU wastes our time as they crush our community and they don't even need to abuse eminent domain to get the job done and I continue to ask for community outreach resource centers in every mega dorm and NYU student housing center.
I also want NYU to honor the heart breaking history that NYU either destroys or occupies and one of the most horrific fires in NYC that took the lives of hundreds of young women is the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory right by Washington Square Arch and I want NYU to put up a frieze on the building so large and striking that no one can pass by and not be moved and remain ignorant of the history that is now associated with 9-11.
My letter "Betrayal at Ground Zero" was published in The Wall St. Journal in 2005 and is more true today in even more ways but the link is broken so I will include a copy I hand typed on this blog.
