FYI:  Columbia U. with the help of mayor bloomberg, socialite city planner Amanda the people's Burden and tax payer's black hole scott stringer are abusing eminent domain to displace the entire neighborhood of Manhattanville.  Even David Dinkins who fought Columbia U. has motivated by a pay-off from Columbia U. so isn't nice to know that what NYers are being forced out of their neighborhood college kids are dealing drugs in their dorm?

atboyslimisgod has made a comment on Cooper Union I feel is endangering community, Cooper like NYU greedy real estate magnate: Despite my spoiled and greedy tendencies as a cooper union student, i have too agree with this video. The mega studio building is clearly a excessive and greedy use of space for the cooper union art program. There is no rationalization for tearing down the vacant yellow building when funding could easily be obtained by greatly downsizing or eliminatiion the art portion of the cooper union. Gee cooper union student -- duh, do ya think your school could build a building that respected the zoning and actually was devoted to education rather than zone busting, weighing heavy on our old dilapidated infrastructures and gee whiz stop using terms like higher education and community facility to bust through our zoning and the building have nothing to do with education but purely about real estate greed. Duh, Cooper Union busts through zoning and than land leases the property like the sky piercing mirrored building on what was a parking lot or the little yellow building you refer to that will be sky piercing, busts through zoning and Cooper Union is going to lease for 99 years.

NYU, Cooper Union and Columbia University really need to be investigated by the Feds along with anyone aiding and abetting them in their wheelings and dealing involving real estate in so many ways it is shocking. The people of the community live their dirty dealings every day, though that have not been forced out by eminent domain abuse like the entire neighborhood of Manhattanville by Columbia except for a few hold outs duking it out in court.

NYU and Cooper Union don't even need to abuse eminent domain to get the job done and again the only thing the presidents of these Universities have not done is join Mike Bloomberg and socialite mega millionaire city planner Amanda Burden in shipping us all out in NYU buses and trolleys.

Their abuses are so many, so complicated and shady, Gordon Gekko is teaching a class at Stern Business School in conjunction with Cooper Union on how to use your not for profit status as a tax shelter and demolish a neighborhood without going to jail and making big profits! The course includes the need for high priced attorneys to beat down community concerns and public relations staff to sell the students and the press on how wonderful their misdeeds are and that lie the community just loves what they do.

The air sale over Saint Ann's at 120 East 12th Street by the USPS to NYU was illegal because the USPS did not notify the State of New York as legally required by just like blocking fire hydrants and laughingly saying, hey, let the NYPD ticket and tow us, the USPS is confident they are above the law. Since the USPS has lost aprox 14 billion dollars in the last three years, has customer service that makes the Mafia look warm and friendly doing an illegal air sale that might be harmful and destructive to the community to NYU is no biggie.

If you and I did this we would be in jail. It took years to catch Bernie Maddoff because just like NYU and the USPS -- it just appears certain institutions are above the law.

Ditto: For Cooper Union, in my opinoin what they have done sure feels criminal. Just use your eyes. They are in process of tearing down the little yellow science building and supersizing to match their mega dorm across the street and the mirrored building diagonally across the street where Cooper Union owns the land and leases it. Cooper Union intends on supersizing yet again and leasing yet again which has nothing to do with higher ed but higher greed.

I believe the subway stations there are so dilapidated that Coopers mega builds by them are further endangering our community. When Cooper U. tried their illict moves with Guiliani's city planner, I am told he said NO, THIS IS A SHELL GAME!

In Chelsea, cheering on the anti-Quinn demonstrators by the subway when a gentleman also anti-Quinn gave me many insights in to real estate scandalous wheelings and dealings pre-Bloomberg, socialite city planner mega millionaire Amanda Burden and Christine slushgate Quinn. He focused on the MTA past dealings and I told him about Cooper Union's dangerous supersizing by the two subway stations at Astor Place and NYU's massive mega dorming by the Union Square subway station including the USPS never notifying the State of NY as legally required when the USPS sold the air rights over St. Ann's at 120 East 12th Street. The State of New York would have come in and examined is this in the best interest of the community and I would have asked them to take a look at the crumbling subways where all this higher ed busts through our zoning and weighs the heaviest on our old crumbling infrastructure although I have seen them first hand lay down brand spanking new pipes in front of their builds only to watch sink holes, water pipes bursting and man hole covers explode blocks away! The streets were better in Colonial Times!!!!!!
