Scandalous The Villager and NYU in cahoots w/ Christine Quinn turn away the press, the people including seniors & a handicapped community member LES
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wires/2009/08/13/public-press-barred-from-_ws_259303.html
I published a series of youtubes from the street about Quinn's
slimmy attack on democracy with NYU and
The Villager denying the people access when
they could have picked a larger space. If Christine Quinn
was truly an advocate for the people and democracy
she would have been inviting people and the press in.
Just like denying us a referendum
it was about excluding people tonight, again democracy was
stomped on! I believe Quinn with The Villager and NYU
was bent on limiting the amount of people and
filling the room with Quinn supporteres because
Quinn is Mike Bloomberg's mini-me and
will support NYU's continued tear down
of our historic neighborhoods which makes
her getting any praise at the Jane Jacobs
Street Sign naming a travesty!
I wanted Norman Siegel to be there to protect our first amendment
rights re: the NYPD but the NYPD got an A Plus tonight and were
respectful and totally cool which was a relief.
The horrifying attack on democracy and excluding the community came
from The Villager,
NYU who could have easily picked a larger space
and they did this in cohoots I believe with Christine Quinn who
denied us a referendum and decided to stomp on democracy
tonight denying as many people as possible. It was shameful
and shocking but typical of The Villager, NYU and Quinn as far
as I am concerned.
I did a series and I haven't had a chance to edit.
I posted part of them
from the street in the actual moments they took place.
Go to Suzannahartist on YouTube to see the series starting
from my most
recent and work your way down as I yell at Quinn she is corrupt!
Anyone from the East Village, Lower East Side
will recognize this older gentleman
that is in the wheelchair and he can barely talk. It took me yelling
at NYU officials, Norman Siegel talking politely to NYU officials,
and a crafty community member with moxie just
wheeled him in as I told NYU I would send all the press
this YouTube!!!!!!!!! I pray he got in because it was an Olympic
effort for him to get there. NYU allowed limited tickets to be given
out and The Villager denied all the press but The New York Times and
I heard a few others. All the other press was expected to stand
in line and many in line including seniors were eventually turned
away.
Shocking, shameful but what do you expect from Christine Quinn
and company?
I have a lot of YouTubes and I need to edit and post.
The NYPD respected our
right to protest. The Deputy Inspector from the 6th Precinct was
on hand and he was totally cool and respected our
rights. Too bad I can't say the same for NYU, The Villager
and Christine Quinn who stomped on DEMOCRACY and
turned as many community members patiently waiting
on line as well as the press including NY1.
After a lot of yelling and screaming with NYU representatives and some gentle discussion with Norman Siegel and NYU reps and me alerting NYU that I had just posted the fact they denied this gentleman who made an Olympic effort to get here access and it was now on YouTube and I would be alerting the press, this really gutsy community member just brazenly took charge and wheeled him in as we continued expressing our outrage.
