I taped page 44 of The New York Post with a photo of Jim's
FDNY mosaic art light pole up on St. Marks and 2
nd Ave.
Jim is homeless and desperate for support, part of the rhythm and cycle of many homeless people but Jim Mosaic Man Powers had an amazing artistic gift and is the hardest working most prolific artist in the East Village. I have made a series of
YouTubes about Jim and Jesse but my favorite is by a filmmaker making a documentary on Jim

Here is a new one by yet another person
My favorite pole is the Filmore East collage including a tribute to my favorite Janis Joplin. Of course NYU, the Evil Empire, the purple reign of terror now owns the Filmore East and had a brutal fight yet again with the community because NYU want to evict one of the last supermarkets left in the area. NYU evicted The Bottom Line. NYU also owns the Palladium property. It is rumored NYU wants to tear down the Filmore East building and
supersize it as well. That would explain why John Sexton the good friend
ofJon Corizine,
formerly of Goldman Sachs, now Gov. of NJ , ran down to City Hall to testify that his other good friend Mike
Bloomberg stay in office yet again. Sexton had no problem with Mike
Bloomberg "changing" the law to stay on because the next mayor, if it is not Mike will not aid and abet
NYU's continued destruction of what is left of our community.
Jim and Jesse homeless yet again, sleeping in Tompkins. There was already a New York Post beside him but I
layed down another copy of the newspaper for him but open to the page that honors his artistic contribution to the East Village. Jim Mosaic Man Power's art work is perhaps the largest out door free museum that tells the history of the neighborhood, NYC, USA and rock and roll.
Jim has gotten zero funding from the city. He called king mayor Mike Bloomberg on the John Gambling Show and unfortunately sometimes gets crazy on the phone as I know first hand and his phone calls got him a visit from the NYPD special unit that handles threats against the mayor not the funding and support he hoped to get from the mayor that he has a special tribute to on the light pole by Cooper Union. Note: The NYPD that represent that mayor that paid Jim a visit were courteous and respectful and an officer even gave Jim his card.
When Jim fell and broke his wrist, he called me. I dropped everything and hired a car to take me to him and Jesse Jane. I spoke with his landlord at the time and the EMS workers making sure they had what info he needed. The landlord helped me leave a note for his than roommate. I than took Jesse Jane in the hired car with the gentleman waiting to drive us to Clayton and Elsa who offered to care for her while Jim was in the hospital. I got Jesse bathed and bought her a harness because I didn't want to take a chance of her slipping out of her leash and spent as much time with her as I could because I was sure she was missing Jim.
Jim called me from the emergency room and asked me to transfer him to the VA's hospital so I arranged a car to pick him up at the Brooklyn hospital and drive him in to Manhattan from Brooklyn. This involved shouting matches because Jim was out of his mind with pain and finally, me conference calling Jim and the car dispatcher to find the correct entrance of where Jim was actually standing got Jim to where he wanted to go but he drove me to the point of great upset to make that happen. I put 50 dollars on Jim's cel phone. He would use a lot of that money to call and yell at me and occassional express gratitude but mostly yell at me. He even instructed me to put Jesse back in his room in Brooklyn and I refused. My health declined from the stress of Jim on slaught. Jim wanted to prove to me no good did goes unpunished and he did.
I think of The Soloist and Guiseppie Logan and Jim are much more high functioning but difficult to deal with and I don't have the resources that Steve Lopez who wrote The Soloist had. I don't work for a newspaper and my blogging and YouTube don't have the reach at least not yet. There is no book deal or movie deal in the works. If only and Lopez was able to work with his subjects family to set up a foundation. I do what I can to help as do so many other people in the neighborhood who have been so generous to Jim and Jesse. I also feel I deal with discrimination on a regular basis because I am an outspoken woman and that means not getting the acknowledgement and support I deserve.
Note: I called the social workers at the VA hospital and left them a message stating I was not family but please help Jim Power.
I can't deal with Jim at this time. He has taken a toll on my health. I just don't talk to him. Jesse loves me and I love her. She is a super loving gifted dog that has been through rough times even as a puppy before Jim adopted her, a guy tattooed her belly by her groin. I love her. I am happy Jim got written up.
