Marlene sad news homeless, aging, vicious cycles
I spoke with Marlene today. She hugged me. She was wearing shorts with a stain on them. Her breath smelled of alcohol. I asked her if she was drinking and she said last night.
I can't express what bad news this is that she is back at the park, drinking.
I asked her if she could contact her family for help. I gathered she could call in an emergency.
I feel badly for her family. I know from dealing with Jim Mosaic Man Power that helping means he will strike out at you -- if not physically most certainly verbally as well as lying and being very destructive. I can only guess Jim treated his family the way he treated me.
Homelessness, aging, and other issues like drinking etc. which can add to vicious cycles that need breaking and treatment.
Aging they are just getting worse.
I agreed to buy her breakfast but sadly the more we talked the more verbally violent she got threatening to punch me in the face. Sober and lucid she is a good soul but drunk or coming off being drunk she is abusive and can get physical. She deserves compassion not being demonized especially by ignorant racist people that seem very sick and photographing her topless when drunk out of her mind or other homeless men(?) having sex with her seem like more forms of abuse and exploitation of a homeless and mentally ill person struggling, in my opinion.
You can't force someone to go in to rehab. Today she would not even consider rehab.
You can't force someone to take shelter or housing. I know she has been offered all of the above.
The city has failed her as well and there is nothing that can be done.
I will call Beth Israel. I got the names of Phoenix House and Day Top as well to call and see if they have ideas but you can't force her to take housing or shelter that she refuses and or medical care.
Note: 1:29 Sunday called and left a message with the social worker dept. at Beth Isreal that works with homeless.
I left a detailed message and they should call me back this week.
She needs rehab and she needs to stay away from the park and deep down she knows this because in sober moments she has said this herself.
She just seems to be getting worse.
Karl was back visiting today. I didn't get a chance to say hello but he has shelter now and has cut down on drinking although sadly he still does drink.
I called 311 for help but all they can do is put me through to a group that would drive by and offer her shelter. She would most likely say no so their seemed like little point.
The sad part is it is not the NYPD's job but the city of New York and perhaps the USA have failed the homeless people that most especially are mentally ill and also addicted. There has to be a better way to help people but there are no easy answers and it is not black and white. I know the 9th has found housing and she refused it.
Any amazing activist with Cooper Square got Jim Power housing but he too refused it.
No easy answers just sad and angry causalities that don't want help and sooner or in some cases much later it means prison, hospital or psych ward.
I spoke to my MD about Marlene and Jim and she said they need trained professionals. Well where are they?

Marlene has returned to Tompkins
This is sad news. Marlene sober is a beautiful sweet person and Marlene cannot be anywhere near Tompkins and be sober. Marlene not sober is bad news for her and sadly for people she gets angry with.
It is awful because they are terrible men that will exploit her presence. When it comes to everything but homelessness in Tompkins Square Park women out number men but in the park Marlene is a minority not just because she is African American. She is also blind in one eye. She struggles with issues that cruel ignorant people name wrongly and she needs help.
I know the NYPD has tried to help her over and over even getting housing which she has refused. Very sad and she is not the only person struggling with issues or illness that refuses help.
She has told me when she is sober she needs rehab. She is much smarter than people give her credit for but sadly she is like many celebrities we read about in the news but she doesn't have their wealth and she is an African American woman out there....Yes she is a survivor and she has endured all these years mostly out on the street but it appears that as many people age their bad behavior just gets worse....sad to say.
I heard from a source her sister did come to the park before the last incident and asked Marlene to please come with her and leave the park. I know first hand from trying to help a mentally ill homeless man that it is useless and the family is often powerless and the ill person can be very abusive so I understand why people give up.
I just feel awful about what has been going on and I have spoken to the police about my concerns for her and also creepy behavior directed at her.
Many people feel she was better off in prison. There she will get rehab. There no one can follow her around and exploit her for their purposes but there has to be a better way.
The 9th Precinct has tried over the years and I appreciate their many efforts including actually succeeding in getting her housing which she turned down. I know a homeless activist from Heuss House moved up to a shelter by the park when the HH closed under the Bloomberg administration and he immediately recognized Marlene and reached out to her also giving her housing and support and during that time she was drinking and telling me she has to stop. She knows she needs rehab. She knows she needs to stay away from the park but the park is not a thing of beauty when it comes to people struggling with addictions of any kind -- it becomes a dangerous place -- a place of broken dreams...where self destructive behavior is very public. I have written 2 poems about Tompkins and one is of the beautiful Tompkins and the other is about the homeless people sitting on the bench, waiting, waiting as if it was a bus stop...but the bus is not coming...broken dreams, cheap bottles of alcohol and needles...
Very sad that Marlene has returned to the most unhealthy place possible for her to be... Tompkins.

Help find this hero homeless man's killer, he saved a woman's life only to be murdered and not one passer by called 911 for him as he lay there bleeding to death
Has The New York Post included the tip line in the 2 articles they have done on this poor man to help catch the killer? Call 1-800-577-TIPS (8477); Text "TIP577" (plus your message) to "CRIMES" ( 274637);

The New York Daily News coverage is far better.
I have witnessed how homeless people are treated with less rights and exploited by people, even some trying to pose as good citizens when their goal is to exploit people with no home, no door to close, little to no resources, some clearly have serious mental illnesses which are untreated, some major addictions as well but they are human beings; the treatment of this man by people walking by doing nothing...inhuman.
Anyway this is so heart breaking this man died saving a woman's life. There is video footage of people passing by doing nothing to help this man as he bleed to death on the street.
I am very proud that I have helped Giuseppi Logan with my YouTubes. So many people don't seem to think these people have family. They do. Sometimes the family has been forced to cut ties because of the homeless person's behavior...who knows the stories and reasons why.
I do know I heard Marlene's sister was looking for her, trying to get her to leave Tompkins. I do know no if she knew her sister was being stalked by a photographer that was posting pictures of her topless and there were more goings on.
Note: I wrote an email to an NYPD Det. in charge of the aggravated harassment complaint, lawyers and certain other in depth on how I see her treatment as similar to this man's and why and how it relates to how I have been treated including for defending her. At this time I cannot share the info with you but I want to down the road which is why I mention it here.
The are no easy answers or solutions...
"Tale-Yax, 32, was repeatedly stabbed in the chest at 5:40 a.m. last Sunday while rescuing a woman from a knife-wielding thug on 144th Street near 88th Road in Jamaica, cops said"
from article below --- one man stopped to photograph his dead or dying body but did not bother to call 911. Why?

Fugees producer raped daughters makes me thinks of Precious
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2010/03/11/2010-03-11_pure_evil_nj_fantatic_aswad_ayinde_charged_with_raping_daughters_having_children.html
Heart breaking.... A long time a go I was told a story about a court case involving a baby being raped....
Flash forward: Finally saw Precious the film and it was so disturbing. The film often cuts to Precious imaging joyful fantasies to cope but she was raped from baby hood and sexually abused by more than one family member.
I know people of all backgrounds and races that were sexually molest and or raped by a parent.
Two over weight white man that think it is fine to photograph a drunk 56 year old mostly homeless, poverty level African American woman. No one wants to see these old fat white men topless and drunk but they have the luxury of a home to go to and close the door.
Gabby was robbed. She deserved an Oscar for her performance.

I thought of Marlene, a long term homeless East Villager and I have no idea what she endured but as I said it was discussed the possibility that she too could have been a victim of some kind of sexual abuse but unlike the troubled characters in the film there was no intervention for Marlene. She is now in jail and before she was arrested yet again, she was photographed drunk and topless and by a local blogger that is known to drink too much himself but thankfully no one sees him drunk and topless and ditto for Lincoln Anderson who harassed me so much I was able to talk his emails and hand them in to the NYPD and file an aggravated harassment complaint and Marlene was one of the topics along with blogger Bob Arihood and he made it clear they are on the same page.

Monique gave an Oscar award winning performance which such depth and complexity in one of "the monster mothers of celluloid" but because the film is dedicated to Precious Boy and Girls out there we know these predators exist and today's news report of the Fugees producer underscores this horrifying knowledge and brings home the horrifying reality.
A special note of praise for Mariah Carey who has a small role but I really thought she was exceptional! She shined.
Precious was a difficult film to watch but an important film and the link above is proof this goes on and most be stopped.
How many babies, boy and girls are victims and nothing is done and they fall in to drugs and alcohol abuse as well because they don't know how to cope with the horror and end up in prison.

Baltimore Ravens Win!!!!! Michael Oher from poverty, homelessness to the play-offs!!!!!!!
I want any and all New York Teams to win in any and all sports but a huge shut out to The Baltimore Ravens because of Michael Oher I tuned in and cheered but without my voice because my throat is killing me.
Post-Sept. 11 I have throat burn, often a 5 alarm fire in the back of my throat and yelling at king Mike Bloomberg and a corrupt Christine Quinn and city council Friday, Inauguration day hurt my throat but I felt compelled to do so.
Christine Quinn and city council members that voted to extend term limits aided and abetted Mike in stealing a third term for him and themselves. The mayor and city council members that denied us a referendum got a shout of protest from me from across the street at the inauguration, City Hall and my throat still hurts and burns. New York is a hell of a town.
I got "The Blind Side" on audio from Itunes and loved the audio book. The film is "Walt Disney" (but the scene I hyper linked is a good one!) but the movie is not half as good as the book... just okay.
These vapid young blonde girls sitting by me in the movie theatre didn't understand why the Michael character was scooping up left over food from after a game and that was because the screenplay left out one of the most poignant scenes in the book with Mr. Tuohy's asks Michael did you eat today? Michael responds I was in the cafeteria. Sean Tuohy replies that is not what I asked. The blondie girls sitting near me in the audience did not understand Michael was hungry. Michael as a teenager happened to be over weight as well and that is common for Americans with poor nutrition that eat fast food which lacks proper nutrition.
Michael Oher was labeled as stupid, took an IQ test and scored low and was written off by society. He was one of 12 kids with no parent involved in the parenting process and was mostly homeless including enduring abusive foster care. The movie botched a powerful scene in the book rewriting it and losing the power of the Tuohy's taking teenager Michael to their country club for dinner. Michael and the young man busying tables had been in the same foster house and it was awful--a terrible horrible experience they had endured together as kids...They hugged and cried at least according to the book.
Note: Michael doesn't consider the book or the film accurate but is grateful for both. The book and movie got me to tune in to football for the first time in a long time.
Mike had to fend for himself. Through a touching act of a good man from the neighborhood Mike was visited this private school that ended up giving him a chance despite his awful grades.
The Tuohy's end up adopting him as well as hiring tutors to work with him every day. The provided him with his first bed and his own room, food and emotional support most especially from fireball Leigh-Anne Tuohy.
Congratulations to Michael Oher from going to poverty to becoming a top drop pick to making the play-offs with the Baltimore Ravens. He started every game!!!!!!!!
Also congratulations to Quinton Aaron , the young man that plays Michael Oher. I thought the script was medicore or below but you deserve an Oscar nomination which I hope you get and helps your career some more. He too was about to be evicted and would have been homeless like the character he played but he won this role. He like Michael resisted a life of crime for honest work. He even served coffee at Star Bucks. He is now a shining star and has no worries about being evicted anytime soon.
Note: Peaked a the Dallas game. Dumping Jessica Simpson really did radically improve Romo's game. Dallas if off to the play-offs as well.
p.s. I started posting YouTubes starting Oct. 2, 2008 with my very first "Mayor Bloomberg King of New York" ...122,204 is my total amount of views for all my tubes since starting from Oct. 2, '08.

Marlene, not the mayor behind bars! Mike Bloomberg NO third term Lower East Side, is that the mayor behind bars?
For one brief moment you see Marlene who I refer to as a beautiful soul in this YouTube where I ask is that Mike Bloomberg behind bars when I see my poster in the window behind the security gate. Marlene is in her mid-fities -- small, sturdy and African American. When she isn't sober look out and I am sad to say she is behind bars yet again.
Because of the creepy men that sometimes exploit her maybe it is better for her. No more blog posting by Bob Arihood for now including a topless photo that the majority of the community felt was deeply exploitive along with misogynist comments.
When I filmed her that cold day she told me she had to stay away from Tompkins but sadly she couldn't seem to stay away from the park or break free from the viscous cycle. I just hope she gets in rehab and finds sobriety so the sweet good soul that is Marlene can come out. Her critics are not half as nice as she is sober and drunk much worse. They just have homes to go to which unfortunately most of her adult life Marlene seems not to have that luxury. Marlene is fluent in Spanish and although on Arihood's blog misogynists would disparage her -- her intelligence, she has more going for her than her anonymous critics including a beautiful soul which you catch just a glimpse of in the brief moment you see her bundled up in this YouTube. To read more on what I have written -- go to this blog search engine and type in Marlene.

Two letters I want you to see, one from Det. Normile honoring officer that died in the line of duty and "Mayor Mess" Mayor to close Johh Heuss House
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2009/06/12/2009-06-12_voice_of_the_people_for_june_12_2009.html
Det. James Normile's letter honors the heroism and memory of Pennsylvania State Trooper Joshua Miller who was shot to death, murdered in the line of duty. Det. Normile points out this outstanding individual, State Trooper Joshua Miller assisted the NYPD in the apprehension of Dexter Bostic who was wanted in the murder of NYPD Officer Russell Timoshenko and the shooting of Det. Herman Yan.
The "Mayoral Mess" letter points to the mayor's wrong choice to close John Heuss House and you can see from previous postings on this blog how crucial John Heuss House has been to someone like Karl aka Santa and many homeless people like him.
