Note from Suzannah: Horrifically Abused Elephant Guruvayur Temple Dies as God in Shackles Honored at United Nations proud I donated $ to film
Dear Suzannah:
I trust this finds you in sound health and best of spirits. It's been a somber day as a 50-year-old elephant died in Kerala this morning, at the infamous Guruvayur Temple - the ground zero for elephant torture. It's almost become normal sadly ...
But even as we mourn the loss of our beloved elephant, there is HOPE. We have achived another major milestone for the elephants!!
Gods in Shackles has made it into the finalist at the United Nations/ Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), and Jacksonhole - International Elephant Film Festival. I've also been invited to the United Nations head quarters in New York to mark the World Wildlife Day on March 3rd when the winners will be announced. I am honored to be your ambassador and represent you at the reception. The UN Secretariat Ban Ki-Moon and CITES Secretariat John Scanlon will be hosting a discussion on illicit wildlife trade. They've asked for a :30 second trailer of Gods in Shackles that will be featured. It's a huge deal for our movie! More news below...
I'm also immeasurably thrilled to inform you that we've received an amazing endorsement from Dr. Jane Goodall. She was kind enough to take time out of her hectic schedule to screen the entire movie. At the moment I'm unable to share the endorsement as we hope to share it just before the movie release.
Meantime, even as we await the Indian censorship, you'd be delighted to know that we will begin sending out your perks as of March end.
And finally, because of the immense generosity of our anonymous donor who contributed more than $7,000 by matching all of your contributions we are closer to meeting our funding goal than ever before. We are ONLY $12,000 from reaching a total of $90,000 necessary for our first phase. Every penny matters, even $5 or $10 ... it all adds up. We started out the In Demand campaign at $30K and look where we are now.
We need your help to release this movie into the world and expose the barbaric torture against our noble, and gentle giants. The task is daunting at times, but we continue to do whatever it takes.
