Because of strange twists and turns of my life I have heard young sons tell stories of being attacked on basketball courts here by gangs of young men and robbed...they were lucky to get away alive...the stories I was forced to listen to worse than that with shootings, child rape, you name it.
I also won’t forget Sept. 11 the NYPD heroes that died and how brave and hard the NYPD were going down their every day. Rudy even sent bus loads of NYPD cadets down there. You could smell the death. Body parts where scattered every where. The NYPD detectives escorted bodies to the morgue and stayed their like guardian angels.

The life of an NYPD officer is not easy....especially the good ones that deserve a special place in Heaven.
If an NYPD officer makes a mistake just like an medical doctor someone can die. The gun violence, violence without guns, the drug abuse and sales so out of control and there is only one part of NYC gov doing anything to halt all this and that is the NYPD. There are many children being raised with out parents and it is not the NYPD’s fault. Again they are often called to the scene and the only part of NYC gov to show up where in fact their critics are too afraid to come out. I can understand why the police have a suicide rate that cannot be ignored.
OWS go on and on about police brutality but OWS are not saints and some have done pure evil to NYPD officers.
I do not condone any wrong doing by any NYPD officer and I have gone to Internal Affairs to report officers including retired cops.
I do know the NYPD critics want to sue to make more money than they have earned in a year if at all and some politicians want to build careers.
I hear a lot of bashing of Commish Kelly and the NYPD but I hear no solutions to end the violence, to stop the rapes in NYC which are up and under reported and today as they bash the good NYPD who out weigh any badness not one moment will be set aside to address all the Grannies to babies shot by bullets flying from gun violence or women killed by men they tried to end relationships because that is not as satisfying as scape goating the NYPD.
There are 34 thousand NYPD policing between 8 to 10 million people here in NYC legally or illegally -- the smallest amount of police policing the largest numbers ever.
For all of OWS’s NYPD bashing no thank you for all the money OWS will make suing so you will have folks from OWS who earned no money at all earning more than an NYPD’s salary because sue the NYPD and mostly be prepared to win.
For the good NYPD you are under appreciated and de-valued. You take your life in your hands and may not come home at the end of your day to your loved ones.
NYC Gov Commish Kelly has to be one of the most long term ethical guys out there despite all his critics who won’t go where the NYPD do every day.
Happy Father’s Day and I do feel for those who have also lost their loved ones from NYPD shootings.
I feel for anyone who doesn’t have a father.
The City of too many kids with out parents raising them these days. The children are plunked in front of TVs and computers and are not parented. Sad stuff.
Scapegoating Commish Kelly on Father’s day is not okay with me.
I don’t agree with the NYPD’s policing of OWS but OWS was also way out of line and some of their actions unforgivable not that OWS would bother to take responsibility they just want their cut of tax payer money via law suits.
