Coco Before Chanel starring Audrey Tatou, Coco "before" she collaborated with the Nazis?
I rented "Coco Before Channel" not knowing "before" really was referring to a sweet white washed Coco that ends in Paris at the beginning of her success. It stops there before.......she gets involved with the Nazis including a lover, Nazi Officer and intelligence Hans Guther Von Incklage.
I had no idea until I googled her after watching what appeared to be an enchanting film starring french actress Audrey Tatou.
One of Jesse James flings is with a a woman that also happen to model dressed in Nazi hat and band with a dagger to her mouth as sex kitten and she claims she is not a racist. She has a statement on her website http://michellebombshell.com/blog/ stating she does not tolerate racism, bigotry of any kind. On the posting below where she is giving the finger to Haters she states her website is a no Nazi zone and that she was hired by a photographer and it was his stupid idea. She has choice words for him.
I do not like Nazi imagery but there is a huge difference between throwing on a Nazi hat which I find repellent and actually collaborating with the real Nazis.
I remember sitting in Sunshine Movie Theatre and watching Laird Hamilton in a film on surfacing the biggest waves and was shocked to see some California surfer kids wearing pieces of Nazi uniforms. Hamilton said their fathers brought them home from WW2 but who imagined the kids would take them out and wear them to the beach? The Nazi imagery is part of American tattoo culture as well which is shocking. Is it about shock value or something else?

The french film maker, Anne Fountaine does the worst kind of white washing by not addressing Cocco Channel and her role with the Nazis in Paris, France and instead Fountaine makes her into an icon.
Paris has quotos given to them by the Nazis. One was for Jewish children. The Parisian official working with the Nazi's exceeded the count of Jewish children he was asked for. I stood in front of a plaque for these children on a school front in Paris.
I will never feel the same about Chanel ever again. I do love their lipsticks and I tell myself the current Chanel has nothing to do with the anti-semite, homophobe Nazi collaborator Coco.

In strong contrast, Marlene Dietrich left Germany and made it clear she was anti- Hitler and the Nazis.

Hitler wanted her side and she made it clear where she stood. The link above shows her supporting American troops. A far cry from a supposed french icon Coco Chanel.
