Gloria has been waiting patiently for her son Frank P. Collins to be posted on the DEA Website as one of the officers who has a street named after him/her. Frank was her only child. Let her know you are working on a new DEA Website. Gloria is a sweet, kind lady. Many of the above Cc: have tried to help her. Those detective working for the DEA will one day be off the job and on the outside. One day they will be reaching out for some kind of help for a family member, and be turned down. They will be has-been. There's is nothing stronger than a mother's love for her child.
Joe Sanchez -- (note from Suzannah) Joe is a heroic Viet Nam Vet and NYPD officer who dared to report a truly bad Lt. NYPD officer and the corrupt bad Lt. got his friends in Internal Affairs to help set Joe up pay back -- get him false arrested another thing corrupt cops like to do -- creative policing and Joe was fired. I am asking mayor Bloomberg, Commish Kelly and Charles Hynes who knows and praises Joe to re-instate Joe so he can become a retired NYPD officer vs former -- it won't undo the terrible wrong done to Joe and his wife and 4 sons but it will be a start. The DEA does not designate what constitutes a Line of Duty Death. That is done by the Police Department and the Pension Section. I've explained it many times over many years. Frank was a wonderful man, but the Police Department did not designate his death line of duty. I'm terribly sorry.
Oh, I completely respect that and I wish we had many more hours in the day to accomplish what we set out to do!

WHY THE NEW YORK D.E.A. DOES NOT RECOGNIZE DET. THAT DIED OFF DUTY. IF YOU CAN CHECK THE DIRECTION THEY WERE GOING AND THERE SHOULD BE A TIME FRAME OF THE PERSON LEAVING WORK. MY SON SERVED IN THE ARMY WENT TO BOSNIA & EL SALVATORE AND AT THE AGE OF 27 HE RETIRED AS A SGT. FRANK HAD TAKEN LEAVE FROM THE N.Y.P.D. YOU CAN CHECK ON PROOF REGARDING FRANK YOU CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH CHIEF JOSEPH FOX (3 STAR). I MET WITH COMM. KELLY WHO UP GRADE THE N.Y.P.D. MEMORIAL WEB SITE ALL THE NAMES OF POLICE OFFICERS THAT DIED OFF DUTY IT'S CALLED IN SERVICE. THE D.E.A. FOR 11 YEARS HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CHANGE THEIR WEB SITE WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM OUT OF SITE OUT OF MIND MAY BE THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR MOTTO. Oh, I completely respect that and I wish we had many more hours in the day to accomplish what we set out to do!
But every second of the day I am interrupted, non stop, with requests of the moment ... and I can barely meet my must-do deadlines, let alone get to all the things I really want to do. I want to come up with a section of the website that lists all the various locations where there are streets, parks, ballfields and more named after our members and other members of the service, and I have been amassing a file of locations ... but my goodness, I still haven't even learned how to use the codes to update our new website yet, because there is just no time in that place. The minute I walk in the door, phones ring, mail comes, emails come in droves, deadlines loom, new cases break, new dramas and traumas every second of the day. It's completely insane. I personally call police work "a disaster a day." ... I can barely get out our magazines, which take months to write and edit and publish, let alone all the things we have going on which require my attention: we have political action, elections, special events, we will soon have more contract negotiations, special offers, functions, it never ends. My office looks like the Collyer Brothers house and my own apartment even worse!
So, ultimately, we can't just stop to deal with things that other people fixate on. It's a very imperfect world out there. And we all do the best we can with the very limited time we have.
But as far as LOD policy, that is set by the Police Department, and I don't know how they calculate coming or going to command ... or any of that. That is a dicey question.
