Suzannah B. Troy Amazon Book review of "Terrorist Cop" by Morty Dzikansky good book -- hey why not have the NYPD work with Veteran Vendors in an organized way since 2 Viet Nam Vets alerted the NYPD to the Time Sq. Bomb?
My book review: Terrorist Cop, The NYPD Jewish Cop Who Traveled to World to Stop Terrorists/
Good book and a fast read although details of the terrorist bombing are gruesome so it is not easy reading. Mordecai Dzikansky is a religious Jewish NYPD officer; one of the first and he becomes an asset because of his knowledge of the Jewish community, Hebrew and Yiddish. He becomes an asset helping catch Israeli drug dealers to tracking down stolen Torahs. He and his partner are first on the scene when Tupac Shakur was gunned down here in NYC. He is sent to Israel and he brings his family to re-locate to become an NYPD Det. gathering knowledge on terrorism from visiting terror attacks in Israel to crime scenes in Russia and Spain. The NYPD has used his insights and I recommend this book but would say we have to do so much more and constantly update our ideas and remind ourselves to be vigilant. For example, the Viet Nam Vendors that alerted the NYPD to the attempted Time Square Bombing; why isn't the NYPD cultivating a relationship with all Veteran Vendors through out NY because they have the military background and 2 have already proven an asset? The NYPD should cultivate a relationship with the Vet Vendors. Good book, good guy and a wonderful devoted wife and family make this a valuable read. Fighting terrorism is as up to date as yesterday. Must continue to learn from the past but think "from the future"...
