Juan Gonzalez E. Harlem Culture Heroes are Rudely Shoved aside

In my opinion Puerto Rican activist Alfredo Feliciano was as good as invisible when I watched and listened to his passionate plea for speed bumps by two schools on the Lower East Side where he has the Children's Garden and after him demands being ignored I took action! It took a long time but see Alfredo and I standing on one of the two speed bumps and I was told I would never get the speed bumps by a public member of the community board.

Did I think racism and prejudice played a role in him being ignored. In my opinion yes but I also have felt that way about how I have been treated as an outspoken Jewish Woman who has been mistaken for being in other minority groups that I am not and I have been gay bashed as well all on the Lower East Side East Village.
So proud that I could break through the wall of indifference and inaction and get the speed bump - I was promised the 2nd one is coming.
Read my previous posting before this one about SAIC and it is based on Juan Gonzalez's award winning reporting and folks my life is moving so fast I have been holding on to this piece I ripped out of the newspaper I bought from the news stand Oct. 8.
