I am almost 50 years old and I can't get the names, badge numbers and what unit these guys are from quickly enough which angered the NYPD officer man wearing glasses..... One guy was a gentleman and he told me what Unit but it turned out to be too vague. It took many calls starting with One Police Plaza to track down the commanding officer, Capt. Traynor and the specific unit because the plain clothes police officer with the glassed lost his patience with me when I tried to be clear where there were from. These were not the kind of officers that I felt I could ask them their badge numbers and they weren't offering any information. I have one photo not posted and if looks could kill I would be dead.
When I approached they had already hand cuffed a guy as threatening as Michael Jackson....about 6 foot and 110 pounds. I asked why did you handcuff him? I did not get what I believe was the truth which is he is going to be swept off the street because of Michael Rawson who regularly has come out and taunted a Korean War Vet who is severely handicapped, 79 years old but his handicap came after the War so he has no yellow ticket. Michael Rawson also demands the NYPD not ticket all the chronically illegally parked cars outside the Mercer Hotel where it says "loading and unloading" and yet he magically gets to use it as private parking with valet service.
I have created a petition which calls for people to "Help Stop the Harassment of Vendors" and to give Veterans handicapped after service the same rights as those handicapped during service.
This guy is not a Veteran and he should have known better. There is economic racism and people like Michael Rawson want the have nots swept off the street as they demand the NYPD turn a blind eye to them. Technically the NYPD was right but there was one ugly thing that I will discuss with Commissioner Kelly and Capt. Traynor if they want to. I left Capt. Traynor a telephone number.
What is the Mercedes SUV loading and unloading -- pixie dust?
FYI: I am a big Jack Maple admirer and he was against NYPD blind-eye-itis, my term for refusing to look at people breaking the law because of every and any excuse I have been told standing on Prince Street trying to communicate with the NYPD from various different units and all the same response which is a disgrace and you will find out when you click on the fake NYPD placard. These guys are not Jack Maple that is for sure. I believe I had one officer drop a number from his badge, maybe it was an accident -- not these guys today because I actually never got an opportunity to ask their badge numbers or mark them down. I was trying having difficulty trying to find out what unit they were actually from. They never expalined Alpha Squad, who their commanding officer is but said Manhattan South. Call one police plaza and try and find them, I dare you to. It took a lot of calls to finally find out Alpha Squad, where these guys work out of and who is their CO which is Capt. Traynor.
I could hear one officer typing as I made call after call and I thought my goodness the NYPD is behind the times....
A very well to do couple, very dignified couple probably from Europe asked the plain clothes NYPD officers about items they were interested in buying.
I explained that the owner of this table, a harmless non-threatening man was taken away like a criminal, handcuffed and now sitting in the NYPD van because the manger of The Mercer Hotel wants no vendors on this street and these man you are talking to mistaking for vendors are NYPD officers. I said in NYC we have people selling HEROIN to kids for $2 but here are the NYPD taking away a man that has done no harm.

Time to cut the peddlers unit way down and transfer these guys to the unit that is suppose to be taking HEROIN off the streets like the above piece in The NY Daily News that exposes a far greater concern than vendors. Kids being sold HEROIN for 2 dollars!
Reminder -- Viet Nam Vet Vendors alerted the NYPD to the bomb in Times Square.
The treatment of the vendors and the ignoring of blatant and chronic parking violations by the Hotel that has the manager constantly calling the NYPD on the Veteran and Artist vendors does leave your wondering........and more than just economic racism.....
Yes technically he has broken so ridiculous role but nothing as heinous as this.....someone made up a fake NYPD placard and put it in their window and parked in front of The Mercer Hotel and I couldn't get the NYPD to do a thing until I finally got in touch with Internal Affairs. New Yorkers, the NYPD doesn't seem to know this but I want you to know....If you see a fake NYPD parking placard call Internal Affairs 800-774-3373,

A protest is coming next month against Michael Rawson the manager of The Mercer Hotel and we are keeping it under 50 people and no loud speaker and believe me no loud speaker will be need to convey the message to stop the harassment of Veteran Vendors and artist Vendors.

And to the NYPD officers that looked at me like I was a murderer -- if you ever visit the 9-11 Museum when it opens if it does you can see my jacket with patches and pins including one front and center from the NYPD.

Could I not hear the officer because he didn't want to really give me the info on where he is from or am I losing my hearing from this noisy city, getting older because as you age you lose hearing, etc. ?
