Suzannah B. Troy's warnings from YouTubeland
Suzannah:
Do you know a way of reporting them (Spammers)? While new to YT I was innocent/stupid enough to follow one of these people and all of a sudden I got a virus which took out my computer.
Dear YouTuber: As many people know, all my YouTubes were mysteriously removed a month and a half before the mayoral election which was too close to call.
Many strange and disturbing events happened. I reported them all to the legal departments of YouTube, Google, the NYPD, lawyers, the media and activists.
To answer this YouTuber who contacted me!
1) do not open anything from strangers on YouTube.
I ignore all the mail that offers to help me get more hits.
*HIT SPAM on the email notification as often as you can, always.
+I have asked Google YouTube to add an Abuse button to the mail notification but they won't.
2) report abuse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVpknYya9kk

3) YouTube advises you not to respond to cyber stalker, abusive people. Many know that I believe Mike Bloomberg's campaign people paid an individual which may have started out as a group of interns but continued on as a sicko guy and he was a relentless stalker, harasser and even an identity thief stealing Tony Avella's identity and Tony is not a member of YouTube. In this case I did respond explaining very clearly to stop all contact.
YouTube recommends no contact. Do not respond.
4) Also remember the person who writes you may be using someone else's account. I have had Dad's write me on their son's YouTube account. and 12 year old boys write me from their parent's YouTube account.
Do I think YouTube could do more to stop abuse? Yes. But YouTube is 100 times better than blogger dealing with harassment and cyber stalking. 1) Block the person. 2) Go to the form and report the comment. 3) After you reported if you want remove it although keep a copy and send to everyone on a support network that could be friends, lawyers, print out and if need be go to the police.
They do have a form and there is a growing movement on YouTube to stop the abuse and that is very good.
Good luck.
Best,
Suzannah
p.s. Hell in YouTubeland. YouTube just changed it's format AGAIN!!!!! So guess what -- for some perverse reason known only to YouTube techs -- if you post a new tube -- it automatically disallows voting thumbs up or down and prevents people from watching on their mobile. I get a lot of mobile viewers so that is just tooo stupid. Why would YouTube set our tubes to discourage viewing from mobile devices.
If you go in to add more info in the text portion of your tube like I like to do -- guess what? The setting go back to their original new annoying start so again your viewers can't watch from their cel phones or IPads,
