Gabourey Sidibe gets my vote for BEST ACTRESS!!!!!!!
I won't have time to see all the films unless the Academy sent the films Fed Ex to me asap but Gabourey Sidibe gets my vote. Not voting...if I did I would shake things up!
I am so sick of "brand" Meryl Streep winning awards and I am even sicker of her telling us all how rich she is. I know that is like me not praying at the altar of Derek Jeter and I don't. Thurmond Munson was my most favorite Yankee. He died flying home to see his family. His family was his priority and so was playing with all his heart and soul. He was not a pampered star type but a gutsy passionate man.
When the mega rich give a million to Haiti, I am wondering why they don't give more?
So many celebrities endorsed Mike Bloomberg but none of them declare NYC as their home. They prefer Florida or anywhere else because NY is so poorly run and so corrupt, NY taxes you to death and the mega rich won't pay those taxes which fall on the back of the middle, low and poor who continue to leave in droves. Isn't it sickening that celebrities endorsed Mike but they could not vote for him because they won't declare NYC as their primary residence and that want to urge us to vote for their billionaire friend. Yeah, Mike looks out for the very rich including celebrities interests so of course they urge us to vote for Mike.
I want Gabourey Sidibe to win because to play this role she had to be so courageous and bless her soul! I think of Marlene who is now in jail and clearly has suffered a lot. For Marlene being poor and black, prison is her rehab and creeps accused her of extortion. She has nothing. Poor people ask for money, so does the Met Musuem and Pal but a racist that photographs her constantly and took a photo of her topless when she was drunk calls her asking for money extortion. She is poverty level and for now prison is her home.
For Gabourey to win would some how be a win for so many women that have suffered, been exploited in the worst ways.
Gabourey miraculously reached for the Heavens and landed back on Earth with star dust and maybe an Oscar. I want her to win this Oscar! This film has jump started her career.
Gabourey is stunningly beautiful. Her soul comes through. I love her smile. I love it that she isn't a starved Hollywood star but a real person. I am so sick of the most "imperfect of men" and that is a nice term weighing and judging women. They obviously don't look in the mirror. NYC is filled with women of every size, shape and color and they are beautiful. I can't say the same for the men.
I would be happy if the director of Precious wins or Hurt Locker. I would love a woman to win or an African American director telling a woman's story and knowing the director doesn't have the reputation from hell in terms of his track record sex-ploiting women which so many men in power in Hollywood have including Clint Eastwood who has a very, very bad reputation. I am waiting for someone to do a film about Sandra Locke. Her lawsuit against Clint Eastwood made history in the law books!
I am sick of mega budget films with over the top special effects that are directing the viewer's emotions. That is why I loved Jeff Bridges performance...so quiet and understated...open to interpretation and compassion. I want Bridges to win the Oscar!
I loved the audio book Blind Side and Michal Oher's story. I think the young man that played Michael was exceptional and he to was on the verge of eviction here in NYC so it was a miracle for him as well but Blind Side was "Disney" like a cartoon and is not Oscar material. Sandra Bullock was great but this is Gabourey Sidibe's Oscar.
I don't believe in celebrity worship.
I admire front line people that make a difference with people, animals, nature, the planet and beyond.
