Mayor Mike Bloomberg spends over a 100,000 million dollars with sub-zero trickle down to win, buy or steal an election -- your word choice but we are having harsh closings, cuts and lay-offs...many New Yorkers are being asked to take pay cuts if they haven't been layed-off...

Ottendorfer Library cuts hours, at least they have not gone the heartbreaking way of Donnell
Small cuts for now but big shifts...

I can't express how important libraries are and how sick I feel when I walk past Donnell closed with a large American Flag hanging over the entrance. I have a photo of the heartbreak on this blog.
Seniors and many homeless seek shelter in the libraries and many poor and homeless use the free computers which have opened up their worlds.
I demanded community outreach resource centers from NYU even meeting with Alicia Hurley and gang of NYU. They did go back to their bosses and their bosses said no.
When you start demanding community outreach resources from NYU because the use the term community facility to supersize, bust through zoning yet NYU and all the Universities that jumped on the NYU bandwagon joining NYU in mega dorming the East Village to death, that would Cooper Union who is truly an evil real estate magnate just like NYU (Peter Cooper has to be turning over in his grave), NY Law and their dorm has balconies like Mike Red Square Rosen's development that looks like a prototype for dorms, The New School and SVA.
What would Ayn Rand say about all this and the hideous ugly sky piercing mega dorms--these "community facilities" including Cooper Union's and Cooper Union does have an architectural school. We know NYU doesn't have an architectural school. Come take the soulless architecture tour of the East Village...massive dorms, or dorm like buildings and sky piercing hotels and condos.
The universities confused the East Village with dorm fodder and they owe the community big as well learning to understand the word "NO!" stop crushing our communities and ditto for Columbia University who abused eminent domain to demand an entire neighborhood called Manhattanville move for their expansion. Columbia U. claims they are doing blah blah for the neighborhood but is is bull. Columbia U. made sure to put powerful people on their boards including buying off David Dinkins who once opposed them but has joined the many politicians that have sold out to real estate developers. Christine Quinn is a sell-out to developers and Mike Bloomberg's puppet so of course NYU wanted her in. Remember John Sexton, president of NYU ran down to City Hall to testify we must have Mike Bloomberg for a third term.
