Calling anyone who is rich, a celebrity, a corrupt politician - if you want to break the laws and not go to jail, not be ticketed, for people like Dave Paterson not get indicted over and over, ditto for Mike Bloomberg who did not declare all his campaign expenditures come to NYC which is a Misdemeanor A and carries jail time --- if you want to be above the law and do what ever come to NYC!
The manager of the Mercer Hotel Michael Rawson calls the NYPD all the time on Veteran Vendors and artists. Check my blog to see an artist that looks as threatening as Michael Jackson being handcuffed for what trying to earn an honest living and (also on my blog) I have seen Viet Nam Vets ticketed over 3 inches when an Viet Nam Vet that came back survived by 3 inches. The Plaza doesn't harass Vet Vendors and artist but it is obvious that prostitution and other activities go on and the rich, celebrities, politicians are above the law. A mother of two who is a minority was arrested for being a vendor with a license but she in some way violated the Nazi like rules set up to harass vendors and she was taken away in handcuffs but Charlie Sheen and how many corrupt politicians. Soho has become rich and wants all people who aren't swept out of NYC. NYU is trying to put up a massive NYU Hotel and complex from Bleecker to Greene St. that will make the area time square but they need commercial zoning but just like the corrupt rich people that are Mike Bloomberg wannabe's they have their ways to get what they want and it is economic racism. Charlie Sheen is above the law and he knows this I feel sorry for his children...all his children and his parents.

I blame Community Board 2 and City Council as well. We have over 8 million people and the NYPD are being sent over to police, harass make life as hard as possible for mostly licensed vendors so the NYPD look for any small infraction. Why not ticket all 8 million plus people for jay walking? In the meantime heroin is being sold on the streets to kids for $2 dollars and this weekend the death toll was high through out NYC with a murder by stabbing in the East Village and gun murderers throughout the rest of NYC but the rich arrogant people of SOHO has so much clout and pull with the NYPD that the NYPD who are the smallest in number policing the largest number of people in NY is NYC's history and add in fighting Terrorism as well as the job of policing school kids who are so out of control their own parents can't discourage them from not carrying guns and knives to school and I would think the NYPD are too busy to being running down to Soho for Michael Rawson to harass Veteran and artist vendors but no!

This morning a gun man wounds three people on the Lower East Side. Time to stop harassing Vet Vendors and handcuffing artists and move the NYPD from the Alpha Squad for peddler to fight the guns, knives and drugs killing people. I believe the community has to work with the NYPD but you can see CB2 is has other priorities and they are the wrong ones.
Community Board 2 looks awful in this as well and it appears a wealthy white community board and a white male well to do manager have NYPD at their beck and call but people who want the violence from guns, knives, drugs can't get that kind of response and why? The NYPD is the smallest in number ever policing the largest population ever in history and they NYPD and how many units come running on behalf of the Mercer Hotel and by the way 2 Viet Nam vets alerted the NYPD to The Time Square Bomber but in Soho Michael Rawson throws water on them if the NYPD refuse to find some way to ticket them and he did so from the windows of the hotel on both sides of the hotel.
My first postings on Michael Rawson calling the NYPD, I was told that this Charlie Sheen type behavior goes on in this hotel and I am sure it does in all hotels that cater to the rich.
It is awful to know that a manager like Michael Rawson can call the NYPD and get the backing of Community Board 2 and look the NYPD turn a blind eye to Rawson who has according to what Veterans have told me systematicallly harassed them even walking by taunting them and mocking them about calling the NYPD yet the NYPD turn a blind eye to chronic parking violations outside the hotel where it says loading and unloading.
How many people who serve on community boards are confident they are above the law and we did not even vote for them? The community board is the most undemocratic part of city government but no wonder people want to be rich and or politically connected because you get all kinds of benefits like being above the law.
In my early postings for the Mercer I called for a drug sniffing dog at the front door.
I had an NYPD officer come up to me and tell me the Mercer Hotel -- all the illegally parked cars are allowed to be there but according to the sign "loading and unloading" this is not true.
Was that policeman on the take or was he a public servant in awe of celebrity or did he just think that the rich are above the law. I do not know.

Capt. Winski has since stopped the harassment but it continues on through the Alpha Unit of Midtown South so those guys answer to Capt. Traynor.
Who has not stopped is Michael Rawson.
When some guys showed up from the 1st Precinct the other day and did not after a lot of talking ticket anyone -- water was thrown out the window from both sides of the hotel.
Also Andre Balazs is listed as the owner. He just through a party for his ex-wife and I feel very sorry for her even though she is extremely rich because the party he through was to celebrate her good deeds in Africa but here in NYC her husband's hotel manager is viscously harassing Veteran Vets and plenty of them are handicapped many minorities and the artist, any are minorities so her husband's hotel is in my opinion guilty of economic racism and harassment of people that are not rich and do not have the resources of the rich that has become what the new Soho stands for.
