Well below empty right now -- exhausted but if I recall correctly from this great book...David studied law at Columbia University before becoming an NYPD officer and there was this one scene in the book were a corrupt landlord was attempting to use the NYPD to get his tenants in line but lucky for the tenants David who understood the law and his partner answered the call and the when David departed with his partner they were cheered by the tenants oppressed by the landlord!!!!!!

I am very tired but I remember that and watching the NYPD from the 1st Precinct side with the people over an oppressive mega rich hotelier meant the world to me today.

I hope you will join me tomorrow at the March and Rally which will start at 1pm at 25th Street and 9th Avenue and meet at St. Vincent's at 2pm and don't forget to bring a sign or poster that lets our elected officials know we deserve more than "urgent care" and that we demand a Hospital, not an Urgent Care Center, to serve our community.

I also want to let you know about the Community Town Hall Meeting, which will be held April 30, 2010 at 7pm at the Hudson Guild (9th Avenue location) to update everyone on our legal efforts to stop St. Vincent's wrongful closure.

I was disappointed yesterday that the Bankruptcy Court denied our stay to stop the closure.  So many of us have stories of being deeply connected to St. Vincent's.  The cultural, medical and historic loss will be felt for a very long time.

But this is only beginning our or efforts.  Now more than ever, must fight to ensure comprehensive health care for our community.  To do that, we need to ensure our community has a voice in these bankruptcy proceedings.

We will continue.  I promise we will not give up until we have answers to what went wrong at St. Vincent's, until we have a new hospital with better management that comports with the needs and look and vision of our community.

Finally, I promise to fight to ensure that our voice, the community's voice, is heard in this process.

Even Rudy Giuliani's city planner said no to Cooper Union when they wanted to tear down their little yellow science building and supersize, busted through zoning and lease the building for 99 years but with Amanda the people's Burden let them do it twice over with the half empty sky piercing mirrored building by the black cube that reflects a history destroyed and a community no longer welcome. Would you buy a multi-million dollar condo on land leased by Cooper Union? Agreed, that is why the building is half empty. Have you noticed the streets, sidewalk and every infrastructure including democracy is collapsing under billionaire Bloomberg and mega millionaire socialite Amanda the Burden helping out all their rich developer friends....The Bloomberg administration pushed a reckless tsunami of community crushing development as reckless and stupid as Wall Street causing mass displacement city wide. I saw Patrick Barr, a long term New Yorker street photographer back in his old spot.   I purchased many of his NYPD photos for my collection.   He was suppose to have moved over by Lt. Joseph (Guiseppe) Petrosino's Park around the corner.

Patrick, I asked, Why haven't you moved?

He told me the good news.  The guy that wanted to plop a Shake Shack down here owns other businesses and unlike the majority of developers that have crushed our communities and angered communities city wide, this man wanted to play nice and put the community's wishes first!!!!!!!!!

Mercer Hotel stop harassing our Vets, artists and attempting to crush small businesses-- they have a right to be here! The 1st Precinct NYPD sides with Vets!!!!!!!!!!

Highest praise for the NYPD and these officers from the 1st Precinct!!!!!

Everyone here is here because they served our Country and are Vets and or artists,  all have licenses.

All have a right to be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   They behave honorably and are good people.

The Mercer Hotel has a new owner bent on  harassing these people and his goal to sweep them off the streets!

This beautiful woman in the picture,  I have spoken to over the years...just brief words and I  bought items from time to time  and once she gave me a strip of leather on the house.  I can attest to the fact her beauty is not skin deep.  She is also 8 months pregnant but the new owner doesn't care about community relations or humanity just catering to the mega rich; yes, another big business  goal to squash  little businesses.

This time the law sided with the little businesses and OUR VETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those who have not seen my first YouTube please watch because since filming this he has a modest sliver of a home close to the park which is a life line to him thanks to the kindness of someone aka angel from the Salvation Army and he has composed and cut a new CD which was given superb reviews by jazz critics. In my short story Chopping the Street I talked about policing Wall Street and clearly that was and is the SEC's job and clearly they have failed.....of course they are not the only agency to fail the American people....


The SEC was established in 1930's after the 1929 stock market collapse.


In my fictional  short story written in 2003 I talk about white collar crime and I was so ahead of the game.....I address sexism and lies via the gossip machine as well......

A couple of times over the years I sent small donations and often thought of doing so again but I would end up handing buying a homeless person food instead. if I had known he was going to make a multi-million dollar settlement it clearly would have changed my view...No Jimmy Stewart analogy. I am sickened by all the eminent domain abuse under the tsunami of community crushing development under Bloomberg; the mass displacement. Please don't forget Manhattanville, Columbia U.'s abuse of eminent domain as just one example. NYU and Cooper Union, NY Law, SVA, The New School all confused the E. Village with dorm fodder and sent a message to the community best reflected in Cooper Union's new hideous ugly mirrored studio building -- history destroyed and community not welcome.

Really very happy so this is the last thing I want to blog about but thank goodness Espada is feeling the heat and he is accused of stealing $14 million dollars and that doesn't include the damage he and Monserrate did to tax payers bringing Albany to a stand still while they went to a Yankee games acting like photographers were cocaine; high on the attention unwilling to understand it -- they were costing tax payers a fortune with their arrogance.

You cost tax payers more money you push out more people because they cannot afford higher taxes and a higher cost of living....(as the quality of life declines...welcome to the new hideous NY courtesy of the Bloomberg administration, with sky piercing zone busting hideous mirrored buildings that reflect a history destroyed and communities no longer welcome on "old" New York's infrastructure.  We are paying in way to many ways... I even believe we are paying higher Con Ed bills to pay for way too rapid and so much zone busting builds.

You have to click on the comments -- most are scathing and one describing the male part of the anatomy perhaps goes a bit to far but the comments expose the Christine Quinn behind all the clever smoke and mirrors aka public relations.  Great work by Sally Goldenberger who's article broke the news about Quinn and staff' high priced attorneys costing tax payers a fortune.

I agree with Donny Moss. The NY Post exposed the fact that Christine Quinn is burdening tax payers with the bills for her very expensive high priced attorney and well as her staff using top law firms that specialize in white collar crime which speaks volume. I keep asking the NYPost to right a follow up article on how much Quinn and staff have cost the tax payers as of today in terms of their defense attorneys alone and run that and all obscene spending by NY City Council and Albany as a ticker tape of shame on this website. If the NYPost did not write the article we simply would not know. Christine Quinn has dropped the ball over and over but she hides it with great public relations. She is now demanding city council members actually live in their district so one small step for mankind.

David Kaufman and I enjoyed this beautiful day having lunch outside in the West Village.   Here I am donning a dress which is rare and posing as a mermaid.


 We discussed the greedy new scandal of epic proportions of Goldman Sachs.  So much for supposed change and we had to bail out these banks.

A YouTube was sent to me earlier today with a woman asking President Obama why not bail out St. Vincent's considering the community depends on this hospital.

I praised Yetta Kurland to David because of her efforts to save St. Vincent's which has taken her literally to Manhattan Supreme Court according to the NY Daily News where she is representing patients.  She is asking the judge to stop the closure of St. Vincent's.

And last but not least we enjoyed the beauty of the day and David Kaufman highly recommends the revival of La Cage Aux Folles.   He told me it is a must see because it is so intimate and moving.  It is a seedier stting which makes it more realistic; truer to the material.  Extremely entertaining and yet politically significant.  Be accepting of everyone!  (Including us mermaids.  p.s. This amazingly talented young man  has been writing me on YouTube and I thought he was about 10 years younger than me not a 12 year old because the YouTube account had age 38 but today he told me his real age and sent me a link to see him play and he is really talented.

I do not know a lot about music but I do know talent.

I forwarded this YouTube to Jaee Logan and his partner Dan Orth.

I told the young man to introduce himself to Giuseppi and tell Giuseppi Suzannah watched him play on a YouTube video she thinks he is terrific!!!!!!

Giuseppi Logan plays the piano on his new CD and his son Jaee is a very gifted piano player as well.

Sharon MacMillian? pediatrics nurse from California 9-11

I remember after 9-11 most people were canceling their trips to NYC but this woman Sharon booked a flight to get here and help in anyway possible.  Sharon is older than me and has big light blue eyes glasses, long hair grey, biggest Yankee fan on the planet, pediatrics nurse, besides two kids she birthed she adopted a child way back when, I think from her unit.

She profoundly loves NYC.  I remember she told me when she landed the air port was empty.  She took an empty bus as well to get here.  I loved having her.  She came every summer to get here in take in NYC from sports to culture.  I always remember her...sorry I lost touch.

Jaee Logan is working on a documentary film based on losing his son and finding his father.  Jaee confirmed to me he found his father because of my YouTubes.  I am also proud because my tubes brought Giuseppi Logan back in to the public eye where he was much loved and appreciated in the 1960's when he cut 2 successful records.

My first YouTube I have moving words roll down the screen saying he is homeless...he needs a home to compose music, to play his music.

Since that YouTube he has cut his first new album mostly with his new original compositions composed as he sat on the benches of Tompkins where I filmed him.

When I spoke with Jaee, I told him he should do a movie.  He is now doing so and it will tell his story.

The film's driving force is his son Jaee, almost musically gifted, an honor student like his dad and also a football who was brutally murdered in a random act of gun violence.  He was shot several times in the back of the head.

It is early on and the goal is to get the documentary done and out there by next year.

I am a regular donor to PAL.   A small donor but regular and my hope is when Jaee is ready to show the completed work here in NYC that he can do something with PAL as well to help NYC kids because just like CA where Jaee hails from here in NYC there is too much gun violence.  It would be great to have screening with PAL for a fund raiser but even better maybe is Jaee and his friends spending time with PAL kids in concert with showing his documentary here in NYC...

This is all premature because the film is in it's beginning stages but I just wanted to say that is my dream.

Two Angels adopting children from Haiti heartbreaking and beautiful, inspiring

The photo with this story is beautiful.  You get the feeling they care deeply; the kids are not accessories, but these adoptions deeply heartfelt....

Heart breaking moments....Jaee is wearing his son's image on his chest and he tell Giuseppi he had a Grandson and he lost him to random gun violence. His Grandson had the same musical gifts as well

I chose not to film those moments but Jaee did capture them.  Heartbreaking....three generations but the youngest with the musical gifts, also an honor student and a football star murdered -- a brutal act of random violence -- shots to the back of the head.  Shooting someone in the back -- it doesn't get more cowardly and it is no way for a teenage boy to die.

So much to tell you and a documentary hopefully as early as next year will tell you more but a man stopped and Bobby got it on camera.  The man recognized GL.  He stopped to shake  Giuseppi Logan's hand.  He recognized him and told him I have your records.  You got me through college.  (This happened right in Tompkins Square Park today.  He had GL's 2 record albums from the 1960's produced by ESP.

Amazing.

Bobby Paulino is also a sax player and  has played with many greats including Patti Labelle and Grover Washington.

Also note: Bobby Paulino pointed out over my mosaic hexagon in Tompkins with my poem is the word HOPE.

He captured that when he filmed me talking about the poem and seeing Giuseppi Logan playing Begin the Beguine when I filmed him the first time.  Giuseppi was standing write by my poem...  My poem is dedicated to the NYPD Detectives -- it is from a poem I wrote about 9-11 -- a ghost story.  Miss you, miss people, neighborhood, trees, nyc idosyncraises....  I had to shorten the poem to fit in the hexagon and it is at the base of the Fountain of Temperance -- and above my poem the word HOPE...that says it all...



(It is ironic that Tompkins Square Park has a Fountain of Temperance because there are so many drunks it is overwhelming.)

In my short story my main character has died 9-11 but she can't face her own death so she haunts the East Village -- her home, the neighborhood she deeply loves...she can't accept her death and she can't bear to leave....When I saw Giuseppi Logan play that day -- I felt like we were both ghosts in a sense and both compelled to return to the park.  So happy to know that high above my poem in the park is the word"Hope". I don't remember seeing that until Bobby pointed that out to me yesterday.

"Love" the one word that is not in my poem but is in every word and note the word "trees"; Jaee kept speaking about broken family trees...  I wrote a ghost story and than this hauntingly beautiful real life story takes place by my poem in Tompkins....

I do believe I helped Giuseppi Logan come back to life...he told me without instruments he was dead...
Well he has them now.  He has now composed new music and I am so honored that one composition is named for me.  I am heartbroken at the broken family tree, trees but to witness part of the healing is beautiful.  Giuseppi still needs help and support but this is a story of hope...no matter how late in life there is hope...


I wrote the poem and short story called The Going about 9-11.   I cried for a moment at the end when I read part of The Going in a podcast...it is always the end that gets me....the end of the story...when she finally understands and she has to said good bye to the neighborhood... (note: The detective in the story is not based on Community Affair's Det.  Hernandez.  I just have to laugh because there was a police officer I did have to call the precinct and I could never pronounce his name.  The story is pure fiction... a fictional tale to attempt to cope with Sept. 11.)  I had no idea the neighborhood would change so much it would be unrecognizable do to Bloomberg pushing a tsunami of community crushing development which I fought so hard against and still do...how amazing that I would be drawn to Giuseppi Logan standing so close to a poem I wrote about death...and loving a neighborhood so much... treasuring the happy memories she had there so much she did not want to let go...


One of the short stories I am most proud of writing is "Chopping the Street", written just before "The Going" and it is about a woman that takes over an international biker club and turns them in to a global financial service firm on wheels".  It was really about white collar crime and how hard it is to detect, successfully prosecute and either way it costs the tax payers billions.  I wrote Chopping the Street  in 2003 way before Wall Street would implode and Bernie Madoff would help cause institutional and personal financial meltdowns of many.

It is amazing that I picked part of a poem from "The Going" to put in Tompkins and that one day I would find Giuseppi Logan playing to an empty house so to speak...Giuseppi was truly missed by a son who thought he was dead and shared his musical gifts...by jazz fans from the 1960's that bought his records.... Giuseppi was missed by a son that lost his son's to brutal random gun violence and is devoted to making change to stop this kind of violence and now this son has regained his father...

So late in life Giuseppi Logan has come back to life.  He said returning to New York City changed his life.  When he returned here New Yorkers were so generous to him...giving him shelter, clothing, instruments...musical instruments are his life force....being without them is death....

Giuseppi Logan would sit on the park benches and play broken instruments.  He would play and play.  His small room is filled with instruments and he goes home and plays as well.  He is no longer rusty.  His compositions are sharp and he is reunited with his youngest son.  He looks forward to meeting his Granddaughters.   Giuseppi is still struggling.  He needs gigs.  There is no doubt he is going back to the studio to record more original compositions and again I am so honored one is named Suzannah after me.

Again I have to shake my head that we connected right by my poem a few feet from where he first played Begin the Beguine for me and I ran home and posted the moving rendition on YouTube.  I found the video footage from 1966.  I have now met the little boy in the footage who was holding hands with his Dad in the park, Tompkins Square Park.......Jaee Logan -- I filmed the Father and Son reunited...I never imagined that would happen.   Jaee and I are about the same age...  I am so proud to know my art -- my YouTube documentary series with 21 YouTubes made a difference in Giuseppi Logan's life and Jaee's...  They certainly have added something to my life.

post script:  In "The Going" I talk about dissociation and after leaving Giuseppi Logan and everyone today I experienced it.  I just had momentary amnesia....I had to ask a young woman a question to orient myself....I just got completely disoriented...confused.  Just momentary amnesia but as my friends all know I need to rest.  This has all been a lot to absorb.

The group involved with Harvard knew Peter before my YouTubes but watched my YouTubes because they are examining "sustainable community".

Bravo Remy Shapiro!!!!!!!! Perfectly expressed. I confronted Mike Bloomberg on the John Gambling Show when NYU was bent on tearing down St. Ann's from 1847 that survived everything but NYU's need and greed to build yet another mega dorm. I told him he is pushed a tsunami of development and with is evictions. I wanted mega dorms to give us community outreach resource centers because they use the term "community facility to superize and exclude push out the community. Mike Bloomberg replied just a few people feel the way Suzannah feels. The election he barely won proves he was wrong.
