A city cop told authorities he was joyriding with a wild bunch of bikers, but had nothing to do with a mob beatdown of a Manhattan dad, his attorney said Tuesday.
Officer Matthew Rodriguez, 28, was interviewed Tuesday by investigators from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office about his role in the rogue Sept. 29 motorcycle ride that led to the attack on Alexian Lien, said his lawyer Pat Bonanno.
The cop, on the force six years, was yanked from theInternal Affairs Bureau and sent back to patrol after he admitted being part of the rowdy motorcycle ride while off duty. He waited two weeks to tell his bosses he was among the rowdy riders. He has not been charged with a crime, but could face department discipline.
He’s one of four off-duty city cops who admitted participating in the motorcycle rally — including Wojciech Braszczok, 32, an undercover officer, who has been charged in the attackon Lien.
