As a woman I go through out the day being discriminated, trashed, even blamed for violence directed at me so it is no surprise Andy Griffith died in his home at 86 in peace described as the star of Waitress, while Adrienne Shelly who wrote the film, directed the film, even wrote a beautiful love song to her little daughter who makes a cameo at the end of the film was murdered in the West Village...in her home...and why?
As anyone in the West Village and anywhere in NYC from Queens to Staten Island knows there is illegal construction going on and "legal" not really green lighted by Dept of Building way too much to be legal and safe and Adrienne Shelley did what most New Yorkers want to do -- she asked for some Peace and quiet.
She was murdered and her murdered tried to set her up -- blame her passing his cowardly deed off as a suicide except Waitress about surviving male violence and abuse -- yeah every woman knows it -- sooner or later we get blamed for some "little" man's inadequiences and unwillingness to take responsibility.
The cowardly men blame us rather than take a good hard look at their behavior.
Despite the theme Waitress was about hope and love...rising above the abuse and breaking free.
Andy Griffith was wonderful as well. I watched him as a little girl growing up and when there was a cool video store on 3rd ave. I rented that famous black and white film he starred in quite unusal -- I believe about pot...I am too tired to rewind or even google.
He died at peace in his home and Adrienne Shelly left behind a daughter who will alway know in heart and soul what anyone watching Waitress could easily detect by the end of the film listening to Adrienne Shelly.....your Mother loved you very, very very, much.
The Academy Awards the most boring tv show on the planet refused to follow my advice and give her a special award.
