The Conspirator By Robert Redford
Pretty good movie from Robert Redford.
If only....you know those moments, if only..... How heart breaking that Abraham Lincoln was murdered and in such a cowardly way....
The trial was a military trial and Redford’s point was the mother of one of the suspected conspirators involved in the murder of Pres. Lincoln should have been a civilian trial by her peers.
The acting is good and the story contemporary of course with Redford making his politic points and drawing a line between justice and revenge.
I am glad I rented the film. Redford was loved by the camera with famous mane of bleached blonde hair and behind the camera he strives to prove he isn’t just a pretty face.
I think if faced first hand with some of the issues he addresses he would not be even half as noble as he aspires to behind the lens and I wouldn’t want to date the guy if he was single...not just the age difference....the camera loves him, his Sundance Festival Movie Channel all winners but still I find myself distrusting him. His work in All the President’s Men superb and I loved the Day of the Condor with Faye Dunaway.
Getting back to The Conspirator -- way to the very end to learn the heroes’ fate....anyone following my blog really well will go ahhhh....FBI SAIC -- which paper do I constantly post a link to about the article that was a head’s up to NYC Gov and SAIC CityTIme not to mention other SAIC deals that almost where like MTA and Sanitation Dept.
And another great concern it the courageous investigative reporting is all but gone and most reporters are simply doing informericals not challenging their subjects.
Not one reporter has yet to confront Bloomberg and Christine Quinn head on or ask Joe Tacopina and Chad Venus Fly Trap Seigel if they have any idea why rapes are up and also under reported? Why do so many women prefer to not go to court.....? Why?
One of the biggest concerns is a trial with a jury of peers. What is in fact they are not one’s peers? What if infact they are ignorant and or highly prejudice so justice will not be served. Justice takes a back seat. What than Robert Redford?
Still in all I am glad I rented The Conspirator. Robert Redford is not some bleached blonde dummy but I also thinks he lacks a complexity and a visceral truth he doesn’t want to confront and maybe if he is lucky will never have to.
