Hi All- Just a quick update: please see the email address for NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn's office. If you already sent your emails please send one again to this email address too. Also a reminder to a those of you who have not had a chance to reach out via email, phone and snail mail please do so as soon as you can while the CB8 vote is fresh in the Council's mind.
Lastly if you have not already told me please shoot me an email once you have reached out so I can get a sense of how much correspondence is going out to these folks.
Remember they have the power to stop this project by voting down the text change proposal by Related. See my prior email for more details.
Regards,
Oscar

Hi All-
For those of you who were able to attend a big thank you from us. Your being there was vital to the meeting's outcome. To that end the meeting was a great success with the Community Board voting overwhelmingly in our favor (approximately 25 to 5) to deny Related's application of a text change! Congrats to all of you. Though the Community Board serves in an advisory capacity this was a big first step for our cause in getting our city officials to deny this application.
The fight goes on and our next big step is to have the City Council and Manhattan Borough President follow suit with CB8 and also deny this application from Related to build on the Ruppert Playground site. We need your help to get these elected officials to vote this proposal down for the same reasons listed below!! We will follow-up with a more detailed writing campaign and event but as of today we want as many people as possible to contact the following elected officials via phone, email and letters. Please start doing this today.
Council Member Dan Garodnick:
Phone: 212-818-0580
Email:lappin@council.nyc.gov
Phone: 212-980-1808
NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn:
No Email so use:http://council.nyc.gov/d3/html/members/contact.shtml
Phone: (212) 564-7757
Address: 224 West 30th St(Suite 1206) New York, NY 1000
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer:
Email:bp@manhattanbp.org
Email: Brian Cook Director of Land Use: bcook@manhattanbp.org
Email: Jessica Silver Director of Community Affairs jsilver@manhattanbp.org
Phone: 212-669-8300
Just a few of the reasons why the Council and Borough President should deny this application. Please communicate this to them over and over again via phone, email and letters:
1) This text change proposal by Related will take away the existing rights of a small number of buildings in the urban renewal area to consent or not to Related's proposal. The Ruppert Urban Renewal Area was designed as one community and should continue to be treated that way and not allow one land owner to change the entire make up of the Urban Renewal Area (90th to 94th St & 2nd Ave to 3rd) without the permission of all impacted parties. Therefore they should not be allowed to apply as a single applicant for this proposal.
2) The proposal is significant enough that it demands City Planning, NYC Council, Manhattan Borough President and CB8 request a full "Uniform Land Use Review Procedure" (ULURP). This is not a minor modification to the Ruppert Urban Renewal Plan it is a "major" modification.
3) Community Board 8 has the least amount of open space in Manhattan and desperately needs this land as open space.
4) Please include your own personal reasons on why the project and application should be denied.
