Stop Spectra Gas Line out of NYC Christine Quinn!

Friends:  Please join the local fight to keep the Spectra gas line out of New York City. Despite an abysmal safety record the Federal Energy Resource Commission approved the plan to have the Spectra pipeline cross over from New Jersey without studying the impact on human life, The pipeline will  first touch down in Staten Island and  than cross back under the Hudson to NJ  and finally return and enter Greenwich Village just below 14th Street on Hudson Park Trust land right next to the children's playground and transfer radon carrying fracked gas up to 15th street and into the antiquated Con Edison infrastructure, This is a pandemic disaster waiting to happen.  Why put at risk hundreds of thousands of gas use people in a urban setting? Radon is a know carcinogenic agent and will enter every single resident that has any as use turning the kitchen into a disaster risk zone. Especially at risk will be anyone with a vulnerable immune system including seniors and children.

Join the demonstration at the UN and bring your neighbors. Remember if there is an explosion on West Street or 15th Street there is NO trauma 1 Emergency room  and full service hospital on the West Side since the closure of St Vincents..

What you can do now : 
!: Educate your fiends and neighbors about the danger of this pipeline in our neighborhood.
2: Write, call, fax, email your local elected official and ask them to TAKE ACTION.    
  Ask Deborah Glick and Tom Duane to have the State legislature slow down the rush to amend the Hudson Park Trust by-laws to allow the long term , renewable lease of land to Spectra. As them to stop any action on this proposal in this legislature session.  
   Demand Speaker Christine Quinn who represents Greenwich Village to STAND UP to the Mayor and say strongly NO PIPELINE . tell her to put people's safety above money  and her political ambitions.
