Insomnia listening to audio book "Unbroken" -- how the Japanese tortured American and Allied Troops was beyond gruesome and at one point they took a soldier the starved almost to death and chained him up right naked in a cage on display in a Zoo in Tokyo and the torture was non-stop and Gruesome and Mass Murder of a record amount of US Allied Soldiers understates it
Devastating...the monstrous torture and mass murder by the Japanese during WW2 and yes, the book also touches on how the Japanese officers torturing Americans bragged about the captures of women and forced sex labor for their military.

The tortures and mass murders are gruesome and the only act to stop the Japanese in their tracks is the Atomic Bomb which as it's own horror. The book captures it all yet the book is about survival despite it all.
I missed big chunks because I feel asleep for one section but the part in the horrific prison camps I heard in detail and they sadism and glee of the horrific tortures before murdering a record amount of US soldier as well as our Allies including from Australia and the England....beyond disturbing.
Just one small example leaving out in gruesome torture which the Japanese soldiers inflicted -- they took one US soldier after starving him almost to death and by the way how they starved them was also gruesome -- the Japanese put him on display naked and chained up right to show off his blistered, tortured emaciated body -- he had lost over 100 pounds and people did come and look.
This was in a zoo in Tokyo
The survivors had severe responses upon returning including suicide.
