November 9, 2010 Overwhelming Opposition to NYU 400 ft. Tall Tower Plan at CB 2 Last Night, But Board Delays Resolution Dear friend, Hundreds and hundreds of people turned out for last night’s standing-room-only Community Board #2 public hearing on NYU’s landmarks application for a 400 ft. tall tower on Bleecker Street in the Silver Towers complex. By a hand count all but a half dozen attendees were strongly opposed to the plan, there was strong testimony AGAINST the plan by a representative of NYU faculty, and by far the majority of Community Board committee members spoke out against the plan. Read GVSHP’s testimony HERE. However, while a decision of the committees was expected last night and typically occurs directly following a public hearing, the leadership of the board delayed any vote or resolution, which now may not take place until later in the month. Thus I ask you to hold the full Community Board #2 public meeting on your calendar, as we may need to turn out again to urge the board to reject the NYU 400 ft. tall tower plan. That meeting will take place on Thursday, November 18th starting at 6pm, also at Grace Church School, 94 Fourth Avenue (at 11th Street).  We will let you know if we need you at this meeting. So does that mean NY must declare ourselves a Country, bankruptcy and have the IMF bail us out? Let's ask Mike Bloomberg for financial advice. Bloomberg said we needed him for a third term because of the economy and it is even worse. No wonder Mike insists on NYC gov giving out free condoms that say NYC on them. The documentary about "ordinary" meaning not mega-rich folks or part of the political machine  New Yorkers  that decide to run for mayor and Christian Brodeur is a stand-out in the film although even in the documentary he greatly tests the patience of some very large NYPD detectives who eventually do arrest him as I recall.

Suzannah B. Troy with DOT Freedom of Information Law form to request info on The Mercer Hotel "loading and unloading" signs

I am going to request info and there are several reason but one is to investigate let us say "motives"...what would motivate The Mercer Hotel to change their street sign to a smaller sign with less words and move the sign two feet south when the NYPD don't enforce the illegal parking there anyway.

Why would I care?  I care only because I have seem to many people, vendors ticketed because Michael Rawson acts like the emperor of Mercer and Prince St. and the NYPD are beholden to him...scary stuff and now he gets DOT to move a sign two feet south closer to the pedestrian cross walk and I have a witness that saw the original sign being brought in to the hotel by hotel staff.

What is going on here?   I hope to get some answers by filling out this request for info.
