Governor Patterson vetos pension sweetners NYPD FDNY, why does it always fall on their back? Why do some sectors all seem untouched?

Why does the state always seem to take so much and give so little to NYC?
I am told ECB fines are over 1/4 billion dollars and if so why has this gone uncollected and the same with DOB fines....with the city closing firehouses, threats to library hours, after school programs why are these fines uncollected?

I voted for Rosie and she let me down. She never seemed to notice

the conflict of interest of having

a bar owner of aprox 10 bars be community chair when night life is the number one complaint

and she did not effectively fight NYU and development -- maybe there was nothing she

could do but I had hoped....

I also find it fascinating that The Villager erased me from The Whole Earth Bakery and Kitchen rally

where I was the most dynamic speaker first and foremost honoring

Filomena Silvestri's memory and the fact she died at 94 and she died knowing

she and her son -- their business was not evicted thanks

to the community.

I asked for community outreach resource centers in every mega dorm to help the community, homless and

small businesses.

I asked the mayor on John Gambling show so that was a comfort

since The Villager made a point of erasing my demand as if

The Villager did not want to people to even think about the

fact the community is owed something.

I also sent President Obama a request that he help us with NYU and all mega dorm

supersized student housing giving us community outreach resource

centers so college kids know the community is struggling

and get involved.

Writing about how Mike and socialite wicked witch of the East Village, Amanda Burden destroyed what was left of the East Village, Bowery and Lower East Side is exhausting... witnessing their misdeeds, monuments to greed more so... I bought this tree behind me last year and I spent more money than I wanted to but it was worth it.  This tree has been better than any "boyfriend", hardee har, so far a better investment, the tree thrives and every time I look at this tree, I get a lot of pleasure!

Time Warner asks for my suggestions

I told Time Warner I always wanted you because of New York 1 and honey I am over that and the costly monthly price.  I want to jump ship but the only way to keep me and many others especially with economic meltdown is make custom packages.

Now I don't want NY1 and many other channels so give me a limited custom viewing and charge me a lot less.  Also the remote control is cheap crap and doesn't work well.  

Also if you use my idea can I get free cable for a decade?

Just got letter from Tony Avella re: ECB fines outstanding he had introduced a bill years ago

Tony Avella is the man I want for mayor and here is just one example of  why!!!!

Community members reached out to me about outstanding fines DOB and ECB (Environmental Control Board) -- ECB is owed a fortune in unpaid fines -- contrast that with fire housing being closed, etc. etc. etc.  so I made a youtube and sent out emails.  I got a response from Tony Avella....

Avella's  letter points out....

..Tony Avella introduced City Council Resolution #577  in 2006 called up Dept of Finance and ECB to Chapter 45 in the year 2000 to collect ECB fines but unfortunately the bills still languishes in City Council....(you get the jist)

Thanks Tony Avella, sad the bill is sitting in City Hall going now where as ECB and I will throw in DOB unpaid fines continue to rise as do more fire housing closings, threats to our library hours, school programs, etc.

The Bowery made over to resemble a bad xerox of Dubai (it that was possible) and WALL STREET? Hello? Clearly that was the plan...

This picture was taken on my iphone and I am not happy with it...I altered it in Mac's version of photo shop because it was too dark  which I never do.  With my photos what you see is what you get...no alterations.   I did this to make sure you could see the historic building next door, look to the top left hand corner to see how small it actually is and if could see the base of hideous ugly Cooper Square Hotel, the big white building that looks like a spaceship landed on the Bowery  you will see small historic buildings.....

so what is the point?

The point was this, Mike Bloomberg and company including the wicked witch of the East Village  (despite puff pieces to the contrary courtesy of The New York Daily News and The New York Time--proving it pays to have powerful friends, so what is new?) Amanda Burden, wicked witch of the East Village, socialite mega millionaire planned to make the Bowery, East Village, Lower East Side into Wall Street keeping the bare minimum "token historic buildings" and NYU, Cooper Union and NY Law to name just three were included in the program with sky piercing zone busting mega dorms or in Cooper Union's case hideous ugly building that in some cases had nothing to do

with higher education but higher states of greed and abuse of "not for profit" status like some big delicious tax shelter from which to be a real estate magnate slash landlord!

Cooper Union, I am told learned from the best, Gordon Gekko, Mr. Greed is good, has been giving courses at Stern on how NYU can displace entire neighborhoods including small businesses and not abuse eminent domain like Columbia University!  Cooper Union is NYU junior and their art students are not rebel rouser political activists but much more "show me the money" and screw the community for free tuition  types.  As I understand it -- if you buy a very expensive condo in the sky piercing mirrored building -- the hideous ugly one by the black cube that just makes you will there was drug testing for architects as well as the complete outlawing of self certification because folks we found out architects are not boy scouts!!!   AND THE POINT IS YOU BUY A CONDO MORE MILLIONS, YOU OWN A LAND LEASED CONDO BECAUSE COOPER UNION OWNS THE PROPER.  IF I AM WRONG PLEASE LET ME KNOW?  THE BUILDING REMAINS MORE THAN HALF EMPTY.

I would bicycle by the NY Law Dorm and ask worker what are you building?  They would always replay "I don't know."   A fireman jokingly told me he heard it was going to be a Best Western  but he wasn't far off; it is a hotel for NY Law students with balconies super out of scale with the neighborhood to encourage lawyers not to be activists, screw the community and pray at the alter of greed!!!!!!     I never have understood how DOB gets away with these postings that don't reveal anything to a civilian New Yorker and the developers are not forth coming...gee I wonder why?  Stealth supersizing at speedy velocity hints they want to get this done before the community can even figure out how to protest it.  No wonder I hear the mayor wants to give New Yorkers 30 days only to register complaints against DOB.   

This developer was unusual in the fact he  made it clear what his intentions were from the start so he is going to supersize hideous ugly but at least he was honest about his greed and his goal as we still are all wondering how did Scarano, NY Law, NYU, Cooper Union, Cooper Square Hotel ....how did this all happen and of course it could only happen under Bloomberg and Burden...you go to bed one day in the East Village and you wake up in a bad xerox of mid-town, Dubai with the clear intention to extend Wall Street, the goal to start Wall Street from  14th Street down down to Battery Park.

If  sheer stupidity and greed had not destroyed Wall Street, Mike Bloomberg, Amanda Burden and John Sexton, President of NYU,  would have sent buses and trains to move us out for NYU students and financial types because NYU's need to expand is a real estate black hole the communities are just a damn inconveniene!!!!!

Supermarkets are now an endangered species thanks to Mike Bloomberg and NYU is a landlord to one remaining the East Village and that market may be heading the way of The Bottom Line as in landlord NYU wants to evict a valuable community resource.

Mike Bloomberg and the wicked witch of the East Village Amanda socialite city planner have only half succeeded in getting their goal done, aiding and abetting greedy developers and architects that look like they imbibed in cocaine or prozac (Scarano's Bowery Hotel looks like a prison) to make the Bowery in to Wall Street...half way there....we can only hope for some biblical sized miracle -- or should I say supersized zone busting miracle that ends the soulless take over make over of our neighborhoods city wide under Bloomberg tsunami of community crushing development which like the financial tsunami will have no longer term winners, just some very greedy lonely developers.

Charles Rangel calls for Federal Investigation

Charles Rangel can call for what ever he wants and if it gives anyone with doubts peace fine but sadly it seems this tragedy was a tragedy and had nothing to do with race.  You can read my earlier posting on what I believe Rangel's motive was  for such a disgracefully, insensitive and inappropriate comment directed at President Obama.   (By the way, I wish the people of NYC could have a federal investigation of politicians and their wheelings and dealings but hey that is just me. )

I just want to know why so much violence on the street and why is more not being done to address getting to the root of violence.   Could you imagine if we did not have the police here at all?   

Clearly we need them and why is that?  

Their job is very dangerous and for me, they are like medical doctors, if they make a mistake someone could die and so their jobs require a lot of courage.   Is there anything that can be done to make their work safer, safer in any and all ways,  to improve on...?   Yes.

That being said, the loss of Police Officer Edwards is a heartbreaking loss for his wife, children, family, the NYPD, clearly many so many people who's life he touched and the officer that shot him, he like Edwards was in heroic mode and he and his family are suffering too.   This is heartbreaking.  The heartbreak, the loss, the tears are what is first and foremost apparent.

Giuseppe Logan, I filmed him in Tompkins, posted on youtube and rocked the jazz world, people had thought he was dead!

I ran home and posted this on youtube because I knew I had filmed something powerfully moving. I than did a search and found a youtube from the 1960's in the very same park when Giuseppie was a young man living nearby and you can see his small son happily playing in Tompkins Square Park all those years before.

I just learned how to make a playlist so I will add the link when I finish with the newest youtube of him re-learning how to play the flute.

I rocked the jazz world because before GL took some terrible missteps that would seperate him from his family and his music he had already cut to successful records and he was on his way. Where had he gone....what had happened that preventing him from playing for the last 30 years. Yes drugs and he went to prison and when he got out and found his wife had divorced him and sold his instruments back he went to jail and than mental institutions but his passion to play and continue to write music are still there after all these years and the people that own his original records are glad to know he is alive!

I am told based on the youtubes and Peter Gershon, the publisher of Signal to Noise, his powerful piece with stunning photos of Giuseppie Logan as well, his old label is interested in re-releasing his records.

The Crusader, The Hell-Raising Police Career of David Durk by James Lardner, tired eyes are reading this amazing book....

Yes, this is the book I am reading.  Wow is all I can say.  I am very disheartened by what feels like a lot of corruption in NYC politics so no wonder people don't want term limits and treat the City of New York aka the tax payers money like it's one big sugar daddy so reading this is fascinating and it is amazing the police have not fallen back in to the ways that in my opinion feels like so many in politics have...

The New York Post pieces on Christine Quinn's slushgate and the legal bills for her and her staff costing the tax payers big bucks and the other article on the mayor's slush fund with just some of city councils pictures and millions they had received is hard to beat as well as voting one selves a raise and denying us a referendum so essentially voting on whether or not extend your own jobs -- well it is a huge conflict of interest any where else that is except city hall NYC!!!!!!

David Durk was different.  His Dad wasn't a police officer but an eye surgeon who felt compelled to do work in clinics helping the poor especially in Harlem.  David's father was robbed often and took to carrying his medical equipment in a paper bag.  He never called the police when he was robbed.

I  just started this book and I am enjoying this book so much.  My eyes get tired...wish this was an audio book so I could just listen on the subway and in bed.  Really appreciate this book.

Exhausted, was harassed for two days straight by an empty headed Mike Bloomberg zombie not interested in freedom of speech but just harassing me endlessly.  Exhausted...tired eyes...tired.

Michael Kramer rallies community to fight 3 district mega garbage garage!

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As most of you know, the City plans to build a 3-DISTRICT MEGA GARBAGE GARAGE, MAINTENANCE FACILITY and SALT PILE in our neighborhood. These facilities will stretch from Canal Street to three blocks north, and from Washington to West Streets.  If built, the GARAGE will be 427,250 sq ft and will rise 138 feet high.  It  is exempt from all set-back requirements.  This means that it will span practically from curb-to-curb, covering 2 full acres at 5x density!

But that’s not all...If the City wins...

• the Sanitation Department will store 34,000 gallons of volatile fuel in underground tanks directly above the Holland Tunnel.
• The Salt shed will hold 4,000 tons of corrosive salt -- that’s 8 million pounds!
• There will be more than 600+ daily garbage truck and Sanitation Dept. employee vehicle trips on local roads every single day.

And during this time of profound budget short-falls, the City would spend more than $550 million to ruin our neighborhood.

THE ALTERNATIVE PLAN: REALIZE HUDSON RISE 

HUDSON RISE, a 2.5 acre rooftop park, is the responsible alternative and the solution we need.  Proposed by the community to be built on a human scale,  it would cost at least $200 million less to build.  HUDSON RISE would encompass a 2-District garbage facility to serve the West Village, Soho and Tribeca and incorporates lively public green space for residents and visitors that would improve safe access to beautiful Hudson River Park.

TAKING ACTION

Canal West Coalition, neighborhood business and residents, under the aegis of the Tribeca Community Association (TCA), has been actively opposing the City's proposed facility for two and one half years.

In early 2009, TCA and several of the neighborhood Condo Boards brought a class action suit against the City.  This action did two things: (1) the City responded with more than 1,000 pages of responses!  And, (2) after many meetings, the Friends of Hudson River Park have joined TCA in asking the City to reconsider this plan.  This is a very important development!

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

The Sanitation Committee Steering Committee has been actively joined by many of our celebrity neighbors, and one, actor James Gandolfini, joined Committee leaders Richard Barrett and Phil Mouquinho at a recent meeting with Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler’s chief of staff, Caswell Holloway. Also attending were Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty, and DSNY's Real Estate Director Dan Klein.

And vitally important was the participation A.J. Pietrantone, Executive Director of Friends of Hudson River Park. 

Although the City has long maintained that they “had to” build the proposed facility because of a settlement with the Hudson River Park Trust, Pietrantonestated at this meeting that The Friends were completely willing to extend the terms of the agreement over Gansevoort Pier to allow time enough to find a sensitive alternative to the overly dense DSNY facility for Spring Street as well as the proposed marine transfer station for the city's recyclables that the Bloomberg administration hopes to site on the pier after removing existing sanitation facilities.

For the first time, the City is interested in a thoughtful discussion of Hudson Rise, which would house two, instead of three, Sanitation districts’ trucks, and thus would be a much lower building with less impact; plus it incorporates a publicly accessible rooftop park that would offer safe access to Hudson River Park. 

The Committee recently presented the administration with five alternate sites for District 5’s garage; the city responded that three were feasible, and said it would extend by two weeks its search for alternative sites.

WE HAVE JUST TWO WEEKS TO LET THE CITY KNOW THAT WE BELIEVE HUDSON RISE IS THE ONLY “FAIR SHARE” FACILITY THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED.

Our legal response is due on June 2nd and must include air quality data. TCA has retained an air quality consultant but has no cash on hand. Law suits and Air Quality consultants are expensive and those of us who are most severely affected must step up to support this critically important effort.

June 20 Music Festival Tompkins, I won't be there, I love quiet but they contacted me so I posted

I told them the truth, I just love Tompkins Square Park in one mode...quiet. I am almost 47 and maybe too much trauma and drama but I really love peace and quiet which is allusive in NYC so I won't be hanging in the park. The park is so small...

most of us don't have beach houses, country homes, etc and the park is a fun place to enjoy nature and talk. If I can't hear the people I am conversing with I am not happy which is why you won't find my at bars or parties very much.

I urged them to promote peace, not to litter, etc.

Just so tired....and blogging is exhausting. I posted 4 of these posts on the wrong blog MayorbloombergkingofNewyork.blogspot.com so I had to redo. Not fun.
