On Sunday, May 19, 2013, Joe Sanchez and I, Ron Reynolds, both former members of the NYPD, drove from Palm Coast, Florida, to Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, Delray Beach, FL, to attend a service for former NYPD Chief of Detectives Albert Seedman, who passed away at the age of 94 on May 17, 2013.
Rabbi Jonathan Kaplan officiated. Joe and I represented the Northeast 10-13 and FOP Lodge 171, The Phil Cardillo Lodge, both Palm Coast.
I have enclosed pictures of the service which includes Henny Seedman and Alison Stiegler, wife and granddaughter respectively.
Chief Seedman, became a Transit Police Officer in 1941. He served during the war and landed among the greatest invasion in history, Normandy. He was also at the Battle of the Bulge. He returned from the war and decided to join the NYPD. As all New York City Police officers recall, Chief Seedman was a cigar chewing detective and a cop's cop.
There was a uniform contingent of retired 10-13 NYPD Honor Guard and the playing of bagpipe. Alison Stiegler, granddaughter, gave the Eulogy. There were other retired NYPD officers from other parts of Florida that attended the service.
