She was walking home from Bar 6 where she worked at 1:30 am and she had the right of way but she was mowed down, a hit and run. The NYPD are still look for the driver.
One of the young woman stopped a very tall young man and his girl friend asking him to use his long arms to attach a memorial message up high on the pole. The young man said no.
Occupy Wall Streeters where present near by...by they seemed wilted in the strikingly hot day in contrast to these young girls pure grief and anger. They had lost their best friend. I looked at the photos one of the young woman’s iphone underscoring their close connection...it was very sad. It is about losing a friend that can’t be replaced, a friend that feels like a part of one’s self...loss...the feeling doesn’t leave you...just gets quieter but it is there.
Note: The NYPD I believe are still looking for the driver of the dump truck that hit and killed her.
