I was told by the sales associate that if I opened a Macy's credit card account I would get a significant discount and I said yes. However I than said I want to pay the "Macy's credit card bill" right now at the register and I did with my American Express.
It turns out not so. Either the sales associate did the math wrong or Macy's is seriously dysfunctionally but months later -- today -- I was told that I owe Macy's 80 dollars.
Than I was told I owed only 20 dollars and they would waive the late fees.
I suggested that that Macy's has security for shoplifting so have a manager call security and interview the sales associate who's identification is on the receipt and interview her about the transaction because she can confirm I paid in full. She did the math and I paid my bill in full.
Macy's agreed to close the account and the matter was resolved but did I need this kind of upset?
I felt scammed and I can't imagine risking a Macy's credit card transaction ever again.
