REZONING UPDATE: THE FIGHT CONTINUES LOCALLY
MIH passed the City Council but not without a fight. Over 40 organizations including Met Council signed a statement in opposition and held a press conference the morning of the vote to denounce the deal. Brave protesters glued their hands together and disrupted the proceeding chanting "City Council Vote NO, MIH has got to Go.
The fight for real affordable housing will continue in all 15 neighborhoods facing rezoning with East New York's rezoning plan being voted up or down in the council later this month.
