Violent Wave Escalates Sheridan Sq. West Village
Hey, I am talking with a gentleman that lives and works by Sheridan Square in the West Village and he told me how the violence in the West Village has escalated with the most recent episodes at The Dunkin Donuts at Christopher Street at 7th Street with aprox. dozen kids throwing tables and chairs generally terrorizing people with police response to an earlier episode in the month at Boots and Saddles a gay bar across street.
Apparently Sheridan Square is the epi-center of the criminal activity. My source does think some teenagers over the years have been involved in gang activity and even recent spikes seen in the area are from kids not from the Village but come down to sell drugs and cause mayhem.
Getting back to Dunkin Donuts, because of no NYPD response the management released the video to the media. Now the NYPD has set up a mobile unit on the corner of Christopher and 7th.
For any loyal followers of this blog --- you know I have asked the LGBT unit of the NYPD for updated info on the hate crime of the man harassed getting in to a cab at this very location who in the tussle of being attacked hit his head. What saved his life was St. Vincent's being open. He was put in to a coma to reduce brain swelling.
My source co- workers were there and he told me it was a hate crime whether or not the NYPD registered it as one and the victim has recovered.
FYI: I also heard a lot of local businesses are responding by closing early and also hiring extra security.
