I was deeply moved by Alfredo Felicano's passionate plea for speed bumps at Community Board 3 aka "community bar" and zero was done. I was at a community meeting that was not a community board meeting and Alfredo brought up the issue of needing speed bumps yet again.I tracked him down at the Children's Magical Garden the next day. I had him draw a map. I called up DOT. I made sure there were no bus routes a long the streets and I noted all the other schools I walked past below Houston had speed bumps but these 2 schools! http://newyork.timeout.com/make-music/venues/lower-east-side/37483/childrens-magical-garden You can see the area on this map and Alfredo is the driving force behind the garden which is nestled between these two schools. I just spoke to Alfredo and we are going to celebrate very soon!!!!!!!! I can't wait to hand him a copy of this letter!!!!
I just got a call from Mr. White that my letter had come back stamped no forwarding address and he did resend it but it is the USPS so I just got it tonight and here is the great news.

Just so you know a public member of community board 3 told me "You will never get those speed bumps." He looked down his nose at me with arrogance and I am delighted to be proving him wrong but even more so I am at peace because I have helped the community to be a little bit safer for children. My maternal Grandfather was born around the corner a few blocks away in a tenement house in 1904. He later moved to the Bronx and worked for the USPS delivering mail in the Bronx.
I think Gramps and Grams are smiling down at me quite pleased!

I love children. It is the greatest joy on the planet for me to know the children of PS 25 and Anna Silver school will now be even safer because DOT approved speed bumps.
