Ave. A, Slow Down, Tin Men, Eat Me on St. Marks Place

You have to look closely and or click on the image but yes that is the Tin Men in the middle there. What part of the anatomy was he missing...?

Thurman Munson

Yo, everyone following my blog know I love Thurman Munson!!!!!!!!!!!
He played with so much heart!!!!!!!

""He was absolutely my favorite teammate," pitcher Goose Gossage has said about Munson. "I had some great, great, great teammates. But he was the best."

p.s.  Love the mustaches from that era, just the best.    The photos of firemen from the early 1900's have dudes with amazing mustaches.   I think the Yankees, FDNY and NYPD dudes show all go for that look.

Rays

AM NY has a piece in their Friday-weekend edition "Chains wrap around NYC" Is city's character being lost?"

Yes, the city is losing it's character and characters too.

Shop at Mom and Pop stores!

Jay, Tompkins Square Park

Jay really helped out Karl one day out on the street when he was clearly in need. Today he is excited about the music tomorrow and Sunday remembering the riots and he will be there helping out if he can.

Have camera will trespass, The New York Times City Room

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/31/have-camera-will-trespass-on-brooklyns-waterfront/

Makes me think of a conversation I had with Clayton Patterson and how important cameras and video are and cel phone cameras, any kinds are part of people documenting history, happenings, stories....

The NY Daily News "Remembering 9/11/76" letter by Christoper Murphy

The letter includes a photo of the young NYPD officer that was murdered in the a terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 1976 by Croatian terrorist at Grand Central.

It is an excellent letter in The NY Daily News  and The NY Daily News has done a very good job bringing attention to the fact the federal parole board let this guy go home and the parole board would not even give  the widow of the Brain Murphy, NYPD police officer the time of day to hear from her while the murderer is at home with his wife now.

Sept. 11 was the 2nd terrorist attack at the WTC site but at Christoper Murphy points out the federal parole board let a terrorist return home, a terrorist responsible for the death of an NYPD officer who died in the line of duty, Sept. 11, 1976.

Fire Brooklyn front to back photos and confessions from yet another "I am not your stalker" and other tid bits

Fire!!!!!! Big turn out, a lot of really nice guys because I did say hi to a few and ask some questions. No one was hurt thankfully.

Yo, I kid you not, I was going to visit a friend to get photos from the back and there is "////// ???????", assoc. editor from what newspaper (?) who clearly  reads my blog  quite often because the first thing he said is "I am not your stalker."   He was visiting his friend, not here to catch a fire, stalk, etc.    I just turned on my heels to make as much distance as possible and went to take some photos from the front of the fire so I could be around big handsome guys that I feel safe with.

The new catch phrase when people see me is "I am not your stalker" and of course you are not. You are not making judgements on my life style like some Nazi and telling me I am not from the neighborhood where my family history includes  living in tenement houses in the early 1900's and being so poor they were having babies there at home.  (How ironic now rich and middle class people stay at home to have babies.) And believe me,  before my family who were immigrants were here I am smart enough to know there was a long history starting with the American Indians.

More sad news, some many terrible stories of people losing their housing that are not just tenant landlord issues here in NYC. And there are some good landlords that bend over backward for their tenants from what I have heard and it isn't easy because cost go up.

I am longing for a new small home with green as in greenery, grass to walk bare foot on. I wouldn't want a big house because who could afford it and you would need help trying to clean it all. I just want some peace, quiet and greenery.

That being said I love NYC. The good people just like everything in NYC are extremely good and they come from every economic strata and every background or combination there of!

The FDNY are the best.   I saw Rescue 2 rolling up the street and I am told the Rescue units are like the Harvard of the FDNY...and NYC firemen are the most handsome....just some broad generalizations and humor through the fire and smoke here in NYC.
