I attend many of the literary events put on by NYU; so I fully appreciate the work done there
But you university is a bad neighbor, and like most modern universities, seems to care little about the environment in which you live.
New York City – thanks to deliberate manipulation by its leaders – has become a place for wealthy people, not the poor.
And institutions like yours not only hold hostage the keys to wealth by increasing tuitions to the point where poor can’t buy into the American dream, but you and the government push the poor out of existing homes in order to continue to service the elite.
This is a crime against humanity – and reflects the new American believe that the only real crime in here is being poor.
NYU also abuses working people by allowing corporations to use its tax exempt status to get around paying their fair share. This puts NYU on the level of corporate piracy – hardly the stuff upon which a liberal education is based.
An old saying once compared bankers to bank robbers by saying people can be robbed as easily with a pen as they can with a pistol. In the regards to NYU, a bulldozer can be as much a terrorist tool at a bomb.

Thank you for your passionate thoughts and if only John Sexton and Alicia Hurley would "get it" understand it and respect NYC and our community which is why I have asked for community outreach resource centers in every mega dorm so students will become aware we exist and the struggles we have to remain in our own neighborhoods and help if they can.
Your book sounds terrific!
